Other people.

The best roads have nobody else on them, allowing me to do what I like. Fortunately I get "open roads" a lot around here.

Do you make a distinction between driving and traveling? I like all the accoutrements when traveling by car. For driving, on the other hand, only 2,3,4,5,and 7 can ruin the experience. The rest can be ingored
Unless you have a car like my BMW 535, whose poorly designed controls intrude on every aspect of the driving experience and basically make doing anything with the car an exercise in frustration.

I believe they would be better drivers if they had to pass the test with a manual transmission.

Added: poor 'ergonomics', or should I say 'driver interface'.

My list:

- Potholes.

- Cars which were ordered without the 'optional' turn signals.

- Cars which were ordered without the 'optional' rear-view mirrors.

- People who drive in the fast lane, slower than the speed limit, and after tailing them for the past 5 miles, they FINALLY move over and give you the 1-finger salute as you pass them driving at the speed limit. Happened to me last week - the lady in the Camry was especially excited being able to give me the finger. Probably the most exciting experience she had in that car that day.

- People who do not understand "Right of way." They are driving the right-of-way, but will stop to let a car that is NOT going the right of way make a turn. Hey people - what are you trying to do -- cause an accident?!?! There is a reason the OTHER car needs to wait -- 'cause if YOU stop, the car behind you may collect you, since that car isn't expecting you to be all courteous and stop!!!!

- People who take off-ramps too slow. C'mon - they were put there to improve your late apex skills.

- People wihout EZ-Pass who block the EZ-Pass toll booths. You can throw all the quarters you want in the covered bucket, mister -- but it isn't going to get that bar infront of you to raise and let you through.

When was the last time you guys drove a new toyota? They don't exactly inspire confidence. Just a big flimsy tin can with a bunch of airbags and a gutless, albeit fuel efficient, motor. I can only imagine how bad Kia's and Hyundais must be.

I recently drove a new Plymouth Sebring (rental car). It is honestly the worst car I have ever driven, and so ugly that I wanted to gouge my eyeballs out.

After driving newer cars, I can partially understand why people drive so damn slow.

After this weekend, I'd say FedEx trucks. FedEx must have a company policy that says all their trucks pulling doubles have to drive in the passing lane at 60 mph. I encountered at least 4 on a 700 mile trip west from Boston.

I love driving, even on the mundane interstates.

If you feel yourself getting board on the interstate, pretend you have tourettes syndrome and just randomly scream out whatever comes to mind.

The miles will pass quickly and your passenger will never be the same!

1. GPS

I love GPS. Makes finding your way around so easy. Lots safer than struggling with a big paper map that won't fold right.

2. Automatic transmissions

Sigh, yes. I wonder how many Americans can't even drive a stick?

3. Congestion

Sure.

4. Traffic signs that require you to come to a full stop

I don't get this. There are only two such that I know of. A red light and a stop sign. I don't have a problem with stopping. If there are too many, then you have #3.

5. People that don't understand how a multi-lane road is supposed to work

Yes

6. Air conditioning

You don't stink when you sweat?

7. Traffic laws enacted solely to raise revenue

True.

By 'consensus' I will add:

8. Cruise control

True.

Cars that pull out infront of you, see you coming, wait 5-10 seconds and then pull out.

Camaro, Mustang, and other "muscle" car drivers that drive at the limit all the time, even on suburban streets

People that cut across parking lots.

The GPS is made for them.
I like my GPS because it will find me a hotel at 6 pm when I've been driving/working all day and I'm too damn tired to find one any other way.

+1

I make aerial maps for a living. We have customers come in and order a print of their property. We always put a north arrow on the print. Many customers will turn the print around upside down because they always drive south to their property and that is the only way they can figure out where they live. Heck sometimes we have engineers do that as well.
