The leading cause of rear end accidents? Even ahead of red light cameras?

1. GPS is GREAT for a long road trip. Punch a button and find the motel for the night. Travel through a big city that you have never been to before and you will love the traffic warnings and the lane assist.
2. Automatics are great for commuters in heavy traffic.
3. No one likes congestion. Get outa my way!
4. Stop signs do work in rural areas. They are way cheaper than lights.
5. No argument, I hate left lane bandits.
6. Air Conditioning is a MUST for most of the country. Just try to drive for a few hours when the heat index is above 100. Been there done that, I will never go back.
7. No argument.
8. Cruise control is wonderful for LONG road trips. When I drive over 900 miles in one day across the southwest cruise control is great. Just try to drive for 4 or 5 hours on a interstate at a steady speed and tell me you don't long for cruise control.

Your list looks like something from a urban driver. Try to drive across this great country for a few thousand miles and yourlist will change. I promise!

That's cruising, not driving.

Yeah, well, that's the short answer.

cars that are too numb, no feedback. They leave you too isolated from the environment and the road. Cars with no charisma.

22 year old part time local cops two weeks out of the acedemy with buzz cuts, big muscles, and a chip on their shoulder.
I got stopped friday night for having a tail light out, and the guy wanted to search my car, and then read me the riot act about window tint
I wanted to pull down his pants , give him a good spanking then send him to his room.

People who don't know what a yield sign means.
People who don't check their blind spots when changing lanes.
Tractor trailers.
I've almost gotten run over so many times because of these things.

Agreed. I still enjoy using a map. ( or nautical chart.) Its amazing how much of the younger generation does not understand the concept of or how to use a map.

They guy / gal, in the far left turn lane that thinks they can select which lane they complete their turn in. I almost get hit at least twice a week from them.

I drove the most boring car of my life today. A 2000 Mercedes E320 wagon. Being a big MB fan and having owned/driven dozens of them, I was shocked at how dull and disconnected it was. I would seriously fall asleep at the wheel.

I used to have a '99 Ford Taurus wagon as a work car. That thing was an absolute blast to drive compared the this MB wagon. Just mind-blowing...

No I won't flame you because I'm a tree hugger.

You deserve a flamming because you are too insecure about your own choice of going through life and want to blame someone else for it.

What about "muscle" cars who pull out and won't go the spped limit? Or trucks? Or any other vechicle? Why are they not in your rant? They are all legally able to use the road at or below the speed limit. Or does that fact ruin your rant?

Imagine my surprise when I moved to Texas and discovered that when turning into a multilane road, you can turn into any lane "as long as it's safe to do so."

In Florida, the law was that you turned into the closest lane from where you were coming from.

The funny thing is that Texas (at least around here) has lots of multi-turn lanes, often 2 right turn lanes. I've had folks run me out of my lane before.

And slow vehicles in the fast lane? Doesn't bother anyone?

I can understand the borderline space cadets in city freeways - sort of, but out in the open road, where several hundred miles are there to observe and absorb the courtesies of the road, many are impervious to the obvious fact that all traffic is passing on their right, then changing into their lane - even trucks. I resist the urge to not signal left as I steer my car into the lane in front of them.

Air conditioning disconnects you from the environment, in the same manner that a convertible connects you. Granted, I do not live in Texas.
