I'd love to see Pats/Bears in the Superbowl for a little payback for SB XX back in 1985 (I remember it well, NE got obliterated). It'd be a fun grudge match for the old die-hards who suffered through years of terrible team management and underwhelming season after underwhelming season.

I suspect it'll end up being NE/GB... Which also isn't too bad (think SB XXXI, also a bitter pill because unlike in 1985, they actually had a shot to win - they simply got outplayed that game).

It's going to be a fun weekend.

Even the Jets writer that broke the story regrets the whole thing and thinks it's overblown. I understand that homers for competing teams don't care about facts (you always boo penalties against your team and cheer penalties against the opposing team regardless of reality, right?) but it seems real football fans have moved on. Heck, their record is better after all that then before.

I would have a better case stating that the Jets have been coached to cheat all year as we found with Trip-gate.

Some spygate facts if anyone is interested:
SpyGate: The Most 'Overblown' Story of the Decade

Anyway, my predictions:

Pats
Steelers
Falcons
Bears

Best games to watch: Steelers/Ravens and Packers/Falcons
I'm just sayin that Pats fans who call the Jets a team with no class should consider that their team aren't little darlings either.

Ryan's media antics this season have been a bit over the top, and I admit - it can get annoying. Perhaps he was doing this so the media won't harass his players, and allow his players to focus on the game instead of the media. Perhaps he did this to strum up some controversy. Perhaps he just likes the limelight. Don't know, don't care.

In the end, it doesn't matter what Ryan does with the media -- what matters is how they play. And in the last two seasons, they have done remarkably well with a very young QB, and a team that is just beginning to meld. This is a team which is greater than the sum of its parts. To be one of the final 8 teams still playing is a teastament to this.

Which team's staff lined up in a certain place to trip the opponent's player?
Which team got caught taping but was almost completely ignored because of some people's irrational emotional misguided knee-jerk reactions? Which team had to have a "human resources" training session to teach them about inappropriate behavior?
The jets.

Spy for a spy: Jets started video battle

BY RICH CIMINI DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER
Wednesday, December 12th 2007, 1:29 AM

The Jets-Patriots spy games became a national story in September, when the Patriots were busted for illegally videotaping Jets coaches from the sideline at the Meadowlands. Unbeknownst to the public, the two teams engaged in video warfare throughout the 2006 season.

At a game in Foxborough, a Jets employee was caught videotaping from the end-zone stands, according to a league source. The camera wasn't confiscated and the incident wasn't reported to the league, but Patriots officials were miffed. Just recently, a team official mentioned the incident in a conversation about this Sunday's Jets-Patriots game.

"(There's) absolutely no truth to that whatsoever," Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum told the Daily News in September, responding when the story was first reported by Foxsports.com. "Completely false."

The Jets claim they received approval from the Patriots to film at that location.

Before the Foxborough incident, the Jets sniffed out a Patriots spy at the September, 2006 game at the Meadowlands, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. At the time, the Jets didn't report it because they were unable to confiscate the camera or the tape.

"They caught the guy a year ago, but couldn't do anything about it," the person told the Daily News in the aftermath of the Spy-Gate scandal in September. "When Eric (Mangini) came, he said that's what they used to do" in New England.

Mangini is a former Patriots assistant who worked under current New England coach Bill Belichick.

There are specific rules that restrict videotaping at games. According to one, no video recording devices are permitted in the coaches' booth, the sideline or the locker room. Based on that rule, the Jets didn't do anything illegal last year at Gillette Stadium.

However, another part of the rule states that videotaping for coaching purposes must be done from locations "enclosed from all sides with a roof overhead."

Ultimately, the Patriots were caught on opening day by Jets security, taping the Jets' defensive coaches giving signals. The camera and the tape were confiscated by league security, and the NFL delivered harsh punishment. Belichick was fined $500,000, and the Patriots were docked a 2008 first-round pick and $250,000.

"It's no big deal," former Cowboys and Dolphins coach Jimmy Johnson told the Daily News yesterday. "Everybody made too much out of it when it happened. This stuff has been going on for 20 years. I did it, too."

O Rly?: Jets caught taping Patriots
Published Dec 12 2007, 06:16 AM by Carly Carioli

So there we were, working on our contribution to this week's New York/New England pigskin hype -- an amateur-ass mashup of Radiohead's "Videotape" and DJ Class's bmore anthem "Stop Snitchin'," more on that l8r, gator -- when what should we stumble across but the back page of tomorrow's Newsday. Evidently not a joke. Payback's a *****, eh, Mangenie?

Sunday isn't only Jets vs. Patriots. It could be Spy vs. Spy.

According to league sources familiar with the situation, the Jets were caught using a videotaping device during a game in Foxborough last season that resulted in the removal of a Jets employee. After Gillette Stadium officials saw him using the recorder early in the game, he was told to stop and leave the area. He had been filming from the mezzanine level between the scoreboard and a decorative lighthouse in an end zone. The camera was not confiscated by the Patriots or stadium security.

Ravens at Steelers;

Even match-up, but it will come down to the quarterback. Don't bet against Ben at home.

In fact, I based all my predictions on the quarterback this round.

Pats over Jets;

Ditto. There are holes in the Pats defense, but they won't be on the field much. The cure for a marginal defense is a balanced and effective offense that dominates time of possession.

Green Bay at Atlanta:

Green Bay has the veteran QB that is hot, and a dominating defense as a safety net.

Seattle at Chicago:

Matt Hasselbeck knows the Cover 2 defense inside and out. He will not even need a running game to control the time of possession, because he can dissect this defensive scheme with the short passing game. If he can control the game early, the running game will be effective in the second half when the defense wears down.

Cutler is an unknown, and potential liability being untested in the post-season, and feeling a ton of pressure. If Seattle can pressure him he will make mistakes. They will win the game if their running game is effective, but I expect this to be repeat of game six in the regular season with Seattle winning a squeaker.

Little late to the race but...
Stillers, even though they're still down 14)
Packers, (if Rodgers is as good as all the 'experts' say)
Da Bears
Jets, screw the Patys

On another note...
The F'ing NFL should be ashamed of themselves. Ben takes a shot to the knee, NO PENALTY, AGAIN!!!!!!!. If that was Tommy, (wasn't there a new Brady rule about this????????????), the game would have been called, Patys win, they are anointed Super Bowl champs and he gets to bang his super model wife.

The NFL DOES NOT WANT THE STEELERS TO WIN THE SB.

No doubt, I dislike them a bit less than the Steelers so this is an emotionally traumatic event for me. No matter who does well I'm upset, no matter who does poorly I'm happy. It's a mind scramble.
