My first car was a '65 Chevy Impala with a 4spd. It was fun to mash the throttle and dump the clutch leaving a long streak and lots of smoke. I eventually had a '70 Buick Skylark with an auto tranny. It would powerbrake, but that wasn't nearly as much fun, but you could make a lot of smoke. Granted, I was a kid at the time. If I had a muscle car now, the burnout would be rare, but i'm sure that one might occur occasionally, purely by accident, i'm sure.

I had a couple of pretty quick 4 spd cars at a young age as well, and I will admit to getting a big schit eating grin just after side stepping the clutch and leaving 50 yard black strips down the road. I spent a great amount of effort later on trying to make these cars do the opposite and launch. I miss my youth.

Why to do a burn out?

BECAUSE YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!

if you do so, do it in style to good music with great camera angles too:

I don't understand drifting competitions either.

I prefer to use up the rubber on curves at the autocross & track day events.

Not just a burnout, but a 3 way burnout. What will they think of next?

If it was a 3-way over on the legs/butt thread I might be interested.

Sorry, I just don't get it.

How did he get the trail of fire? It's like his tires were on fire and left burning rubber.
