he really just noted the difference between citizens of various color..
& hard working criminals..
so if the brothers abandon him..
perhaps his new amigos will step up..

Now that the main topic has been summed up, I'll tell the story I heard re Inuit...

the early French explorers of what is now Canada and Alaska traveled west in search of the ocean... they met up with some Indians (Athabaskans) and asked if there was a big salty lake in the area. "Nope."

- well, who lives to the west of you guys?
the Athabaskans gave them a derogatory term meaning eaters of whale blubber or azz whole primitive jerk offs who eat whale blubber -- something along that line
-the French explores translated it phonetically as Esquimeaux, and it was then Anglicized into Eskimo

and obviously they aren't real fond of the word

several posts have noted that many different peoples are racist, and I agree.

we had one group who considered themselves the Middle Kingdom (between Heaven and the primitive savages on Earth); groups that depicted early European sailors as monkeys (well, the sailors were hairy like monkeys and not exactly schooled in the social graces); groups that declared that those not farming and not of their religion had not property rights to the land they had lived on for thousands of years... those are just a few examples

For comparison, this is what some other people in the news today are using as an excuse to pull the race card:

Ohio High School Basketball Coach Accused of Racism Against Players
Published February 09, 2011

The Richmond Heights basketball team is 15-and-0, but the team planned to sit out Tuesday night's game, unless their coach was fired.

Monday, parents sent the school superintendent a letter, claiming he uses racist and degrading comments.

"Everybody in this room are responsible for these children, it's time to stop," said parent Nneka Slade Jackson, during a heated school board meeting Monday night.

"They been dealing with this for months (years), this ain't something that just started yesterday," said parent Alvin Fulton.

The parents are demanding the superintendent, Dr. Linda Hardwick, remove high school varsity basketball coach Jason Popp, alleging he uses inappropriate language, as well as racist comments towards his players.

"He was like, 'well, you guys don't go out and play [expletive] basketball.' He was like, 'cause this is what they gonna expect ya'll to do, play (expletive) basketball'," said varsity player Jordan Early.

Spartans players skipped practice on Monday.

"He said if I don't get my grades up, I'm gonna be living back down on Superior. I thought it was a racist comment because if I was white, he wouldn't have said nothing like that," added Early.

Dr. Hardwick says she spent Tuesday talking to Popp about the allegations.

"He's saying that none of this is true, but I'm working through every one of the issues," she said.

Hardwick says she has not had time to hear both sides, saying she will not act until she does more investigating.

"Mr. Popp's reputation is at stake and the students -- I'm an advocate for children -- they must be treated fairly, if any of these allegations are true," she said.

Most players say they are willing to give up their undefeated season if the coach remains. Although some want to keep playing.

"I think as a team, we should still get our butts on the court because no matter what somebody says to you, we love basketball, all of us loves basketball and I think no matter what he says, we need to go for our goal and go 20-and-0," said varsity player London Fulton, Jr.

Hardwick says Tuesday night's home game against Independence is postponed until Friday, to give her time to deal with the situation.

She says he wants to get the parents and Jason Popp in a face-to-face meeting on Wednesday to discuss the allegations.

Hey now, my kids are 1/4 Mexican and they both get straight A's and score in the top 1% of the nation on standardized tests.

They are 3/4 Caucasian and consider themselves white Americans, maybe I should take a lesson from Haley Berry and set em straight ......

to your point Mr. webb, I firmly believe that racism is a part of being a socialized human. think about small groups of humans protecting their food and women from neighboring groups.

Who's = contraction of "Who Is"

Do you possibly mean "WHOSE"??

As in "Whose car is that?"

Seems that the Pazuzu is as bad at English as the senator is.

All I know is that the tribal members, chiefs, and Native American Law School Deans around here I've spoken with are fine with "Indian"

The Dean is an import from Oklahoma so not sure if he picked up on it here or what

And, BTW, all I ask is that everybody agree on the same thing and that it be short & snappy -- once dated a Black woman who did not like "black" - had to be the full Af ri can A mer i can -- that is a LOT of syllabubbles!

She was a Forester, so maybe that was the problem. Other people seem to be fine with Black or even black... I always liked Afro...
