I saw an article in the local paper about folks standing in line at 6:00 AM is sub freezing temperatures to buy a Verizon iPhone. The manager at the store had every employee there at 7:00 AM for a 14 hour shift.
I have an iPhone, but I would never stand in line to buy one at any price. |
Those people who stand in line for such things are losers. Just amazes me when I see it.
|
It was the same way in downtown Philly yesterday. I will wait for the iPhone 5 to be released and the rush for it is over.
|
I love my iPhones as well - have 3 in the house and more for my business.
I would never wait in line to purchase anything when a couple of mouse clicks will get one delivered to my door a short time later. |
When I moved from my 8 gb iPhone original to the iPhone4 my wife decided it was time for her to get a smart phone. We went to a local AT&T store at 9:30 AM on December 24th. The store was busy but we got instant help. We were in and out in short order with two iPhone 4s. I will never in my life wait in a line for coffee, or to buy an electronic gadget. I will not wait more than 15 minutes at any restaurant. And it better be a darn good meal & excellent service if I wait 15 minutes to be seated.

Unfortunately I'm counting months. |
The most "famous" pizza place in Phoenix usually has a three-hour wait, is booked months in advance and open a few days a week. I don't get it. The only time I've ever waited in line (in this country) was at the airport or back when that was how you bought concert tickets before the Internet. The UPS and FedEx men are my friends.

If getting two iPhones for self and spouse, I suggest getting just one, waiting for the 5 and for other devices in coming months, and then getting the other - idea is to have staggered upgrades. The motorola phone that docks into tablet and PC looks interesting. The Pre 3 could be too, web os was very good in pre 1/2. I'm a iPhone fan but there are going to be many great devices out there.

Apple has followed a schedule in the past, making it possible, if not likely, that there will be an iPhone 5 this Summer. However, because the CDMA 4 has only been out a couple of days, a CDMA 5 might not be available until September or later. In any case, demand for the "prior model" of iPhone makes it easy to upgrade on your own schedule with little if any cost. (I went from a 3 to a 3GS 11 months ago and sold the old phone on Craigslist. I netted money from the exchange.)

no - it is all just rumors
some rumors are that the 5 will be super thin others say it will cure cancer... |
I thought it would make you smell like a summer's eve...

Also, Verizon usually is slower to introduce phones. ..they do lots of device testing and tweaking before launching on their network. So, yeah, Ip5 under verizon will likely be a while. In the past, Sprint would always offer a new device months before Verizon. ...but Verizon's would then launch, having a few tweaks, which make the phone better. ---If Apple's iPhone where a mainstream phone (non-exclusive to att) that whole Apple 'antenna-gate' thing would not likely have happened under Verizon. |
There are reports that the death-grip still is alive and well on the ViPhone.
iLounge is reporting that Verizon iPhone 4 also suffers from signal attenuation problems that was first reported when Apple launched the GSM iPhone 4. iLounge reports that the Verizon iPhone loses substantial cellular signal strength when held in a ‘death grip’ position like the GSM iPhone 4. They have also noticed that Wi-Fi reception is affected when the Verizon iPhone is held in a different position referred to as the “death hug” something that hasn’t been observed on the GSM iPhone 4. |
Not seeing any loss in signal, no matter how I hold it. Very happy with voice quality and no dropped calls. Data does come in noticeably slower, however.

do you guys really use the iphone to make telephone calls???
I thought it was illegal to make a telephone call with an iphone... |
Making a phone call with an iPhone is a lot like driving a rear engine car on the track. You can do it, but you're fighting physical science.
|
I probably make 4 calls a day with my iPhone. I just don't like talking on the phone - any phone. I tell everyone to email or IM me.
