Pain Relief DMSO

Hello all.......
Anybody ever use DMSO ( Dimethyl Sulfoxide) for pain relief for knee osteoarthritis.
Have heard miracle stories about the compound but the FDA certainly downplays
the effectiveness and in fact suggests the danger of using it for medical purposes
on humans. Comments from anyone with any experience using it good or bad would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I use Aleve, I don't trust an industrial solvent that is absorbed through the skin, seems very risky...

My (college football) neighbor used DMSO in the 70's. Would got to TJ to procure it. Stunk to high heaven. He moved on to modern pharmaceuticals and surgery.

Also have heard reports that anything on your skin will get absorbed along with it... be very careful.

Yes I also agree but the politics the FDA have played for the past 30 years with
DMSO are incredible. One must remember the pharmaceutical companies are here to sell their drugs and don't want competition from natural derived medicine.
They would rather sell Naproxen (Aleve) and forget about the potential liver damage it causes. The industrial solvent nomenclature has also been a cover for
the purposes of legally selling it even though a large population are using it for personal pain relief.
I guess similar labeling of uses of drugs is that of " rat poison" which millions of
people are using to treat strokes etc but is called warfarin and has been highly effective and economical to use for over 40 years now.

dmso is horse liniment, kinda smells like dead clams, but it makes the knees feel good.

Move into the 21th cent. with msm, the chemists tweeked dmso and bam msm was created, oderless tasteless and very inexpensive, forget glucosamine, too big a molecule size to be effectively absorbed.

Better yet, go to the ortho doc and ask for synvisc injections, pure hyaluronic acid, will give the bounce back in your step but only good for about 6-8 months.

MSM makes the cart slippery and HA thickens the fluid in between.

I found about the stuff from an old cropduster. He swore by it. I have a bottle and found that if you sprain or twist your ankle and can rub it on real soon after the injury it will not swell up or hurt as bad. I wouldn't use it on a regular basis though. An interesting side effect, it gives you garlic breath!

My first real girlfriend's mom (think Portland OR 1974) used it. Thought it had something to do with fish oil but the memory has faded a bit since then.

Years ago - an uncle of mine made up his own ointment of turpentine and who knows what else. He claimed it was "better than DMSO" and much cheaper!

It used to be made at a chemical plant in the town I grew up in. When I played football in high school, one guy sprained an ankle really badly during a game Friday night. You know - one of those sprains where the whole side of your foot turns black. He couldn't even walk on it Saturday. The dad of another guy on the team worked at the plant and got him some DMSO. Monday he was practicing as if nothing was wrong.

Well after reading "DMSO Nature's Healer" by Dr. Morton Walker I decided to
try the Gel out yesterday and have applied 3 applications to my arthritic shoulder
and it seems to be helping. Thought it would be allot safer than continually consuming all types of pain killers.
