Me too. I love taking things apart, seeing how they work and minor failure analysis. Putting it back together never seems to happen with me either.

Here are some photos of the camshafts as I mentioned before, I find these marks unusual--however they could be present from manufacturing.
Look in between the lobes--the markings extend the length of both shafts. ![]() ![]()

Are you talking about the marks left from when the flash was ground away from the casting?
Nothing at all odd about them..

You can see the parting line projecting vertically to the top of the cam lobe...
Nothing odd....just some crude finish work on a casting..

Yep, thats what I was looking at. It looked just enough out of place for me to ask about--thanks for clearing that up. I thought that it might be from the factory that way.

I see what is wrong. Someone drilled big holes in the cylynder walls.

The 'Damage; you are referring to a the top of the cylinders is, I believe, remnants of head gasket material. It flakes off.
