I wear orthotics in my shoes and that helps manage the neuroma pain, but the "good thing" about my gout is that the gout pain has made everything else seem like a walk in the park!

I've spent a small fortune on shoes and orthotics. My wife is a shoe junky.....and I have more shoes than she does!
The $300 orthotics are in a drawer, after a year of wearing them everyday. The orthotic that I bought, custom made for my feet, were the hard plastic type. Hard hurts. I feel like wrapping my feet in a couple of big goose down pillows and walking around.
I also have the $280 Z-Coil shoes, $145 Spira shoes, $200 Aertecs.....none really helped at all. But still i want to try the "next" shoe in hopes that it might help. There are a bunch of ads recently for Gravity Defyer shoes. Springs in the insole, but that's basically the same concept as Spira shoes.

speaking of shoes, the only thing in that dept. that works for my feet are Birkenstock shoes. The insole has the metatarsal bump which opens up the area of the foot that the neuroma inflames. I wear the shoes to work and the slip-ons at home.

In my walking or running shoes I put a metatarsal pad in the insole and it allows me to be able to wear any shoe. I first got the pads from my podiatrist and then I found them on the internet and bought a bagful.

My wife had surgery for her Morton's neuroma a couple of years ago. It went really well. She's done a couple of half marathons recently and just signed up for a full marathon in October.

Check into barefoot running... My mom has been researching it to help with her neuroma. She just bought a pair of Vibram FiveFingers. Some runners with a neuroma claim they help....

Can anyone give me a better description of Mortons neuroma? I get a sharp shooting pain in the bottom of my forefoot right below the second and third toes. It only seems to happen when I run. I will limp around for a short time and the pain goes away gradually. By the next day it feels mostly normal and I have no problem when walking but it keeps coming back when I run.

I got a Joplin's neuroma under my big toe after having plantar fascia release surgery. It is a real pain. It feels like a rock in your shoe all the f'ing time. Had a couple of cortisone shots which did zero good.

I don't recommend it either....Good luck.
