I still chuckle when I remember Ron telling me of his permatune going...the engine cutting in and out as he was driving past (you guessed it) area 51...

finished the book. i read it in three days...knocked out 370 pages or so fairly quickly. strangely, on the second day of the reading the book, while at work, i worked a particular organization/flight (mentioned in the book), traveling between palmdale and tonopah. this further vested my interest in the book...because i was seeing it first hand, just a day into the book.
i hate conspiracy theory stuff, but this book isn't really that at all. i started reading it with complete suspicion. in my opinion, it's the anti-conspiracy theory. give it a read. it's only $18 on amazon for the hardcover, and with Prime, it was free to ship.

The last half century was riddled with all sorts of strange stuff. Think of all the nasty crap that happened in the camps in duringthe 30's and 40's. No holds barred.
As for the technology - I don't think it was all that whizz-bang and for the mutations...sad but very plausable.

i am betting that the "glowing craft" chasing the fighter planes, which then "winked out", were the rocket planes the nazi's deployed. they had about two minutes worth of fuel and then they glided back for landing.

My father was born in Artesia NM and grew up in Roswell, right down the road.
He lived there in 1947. He watched the story grow and change his entire young life. He says all that alien stuff is a bunch of crap and the people who spread it are all a bunch of wacked out loonies. |

There was a segment on this on Nightline tonight... some of the guys she interviewed for the book are now saying she sensationalized what they told her.
She is confronted on her claims... ugh... looks like you've gotta let it play through a Casey Anthony segment before the Area 51 segment plays... Nightline 5/26: Unlocking Area 51's Secrets Full Episode - Nightline - ABC News Of course, the fact they're saying that now could be "disinformation."

I downloaded the book on the ipad... The Roswell alien looking people thing is a very small part of the story, almost wish it wasn't there as the rest is more serious. That said by and large it's not a "great" book, it's alright. I excepted more new stuff... Some nuggets here and there about nuclear testing, about how the russians knew the shape of the SR71 due to the infrared pictures of the shadow it cast on the ground (cooler), and how the Area 51 people messed with the russians by doing fake plane shapes on a pole to cast a funny shadow for their satellites to pick up... But I'd give it a pass, for the money.
