Indy!!!
My favorite race of all is on tomorrow. Chance of thunderstorms, though.
Went in 2007 and saw Franchitti win after a 4-hour rain delay. Awesome experience. Got to walk around whole facility during the delay, saw Paul Newman drive by on a golf cart, and, perhaps best of all, got to watch Ashley Judd, soaked with water, jump up and down in delightfully clingy dress as Dario went to victory lane. Anybody going? |
first time im not going in years. last year, i did all three races at IMS
|
I Like Alex Tagliani.
I don't have cable but I hope there is a sports bar around showing it (surely.) If only Monaco wasn't on at 4AM here, ugh. It's hard being a racing fan in the pacific time zone. |
Going to the Indy 500 is a Bucket List item for me.
|
You better go soon. No one knows how many are left. Indycar is near broke.
|
I went one year - saw 5 laps, got sorta bored, then went to drink beer and race go-carts. They had a great track there back in the day. Great place to go to see some nice tail running around.
The experience is cool but it is better on TV (like pretty much all sporting events). |

It was like Mecca for me. Gotta be the scariest place to race on earth. Foot to the floor into turn 1 at 230 mph--that's faith.

the best thing to do is get GOOD seats, either by the yard of bricks, turn one....or the pagoda if you can pop for it. watch the start of the race, stick around for 15-20 laps, and then meander down to the infield. experience the hillbillies with hats made out of beer boxes, etc. eat some of the disgustingly fried food. have fun. before the end of the race, head back to where you started for the finish of the race. my dad was a USAC timing and scoring official during the month of may when i was little, so i used to get to hang out at the track, meet drivers (scott brayton before he died, aj foyt, etc). i have so many cool stories of my times there. |
My favorite time was before the CART split too, but I'm happy with the current race. Actually, my favorite in recent times was Danny Sullivan's spin and win in 1985. and Little Al' win over Fittipaldi.
The presence of several women in the field makes it especially interesting--my favorite being Simona DiSilvestro, who s the real deal, qualifying with 2hd degree burns on her hands. Tough cookie, and gonna be a great driver. |
Let the event begin!

It's on ABC.....regular TV. |
Wow what a finsh. I feel bad for the rookie.

What happened to Sarah Fisher?
|
She runs her own team now, crushing for JR Hilldabrand, I thought he was still gonna win even with the crash, IMO it was an entertaing race, Danica led for a few laps so that will keep her in the spot light for a few more years, I wonder how much Weldon will take home for the win.

What a finish indeed ! JRH was very composed during the interview given what had just happened.
It was good to see DH win though after being the bridesmaid a couple of times now. Wonder how many offers he has already received by now for the rest of season :) |
Hopefully this will land him a ride.
|
Classic finish.........
|
Great finish! Awesome!
