Barrel swapping is a pain with our legislation.. I used to be illegal, no it's supposed to be legal or so i was told, but it involves more paper work then simply buying a frigging .22 plinker on the side.

Odd, but not surprising.

Here are some DW photos to whet your appetite. This is an RZ-10 (Razorback, 10mm Auto). I recently had some work done on it but haven't taken any photos of that yet.

The stainless is growing on me.. the DW does the stainless much nicer then most others..
Tried calling today, but shop not open, tomorrow, at 10AM.. i'll be ringing, and if it's still there, have em put it on the side for me.

Sweet - keeping my finger's crossed for you that it still is there. Other side of the country? Probably about as bad as driving all the way across LA. ;)

They still have it. Gonna leave work a bit early and drive up there today.

svandamme 06-17-2011 10:05 AM

Bought it

Danimal16 06-17-2011 11:39 AM

I have a number of .45s.

For the 1911's I have a Springfield Semi-Custom;
A Colt Model 70 Gold Cup in satin;
and a Kimber full frame.

I also have a SIG 220.

I like the Kimber and SIG about equal, but if I could only have one, it would be the SIG.

Others have posted some very nice 1911's. Those are some high speed low drag spoons.

svandamme 06-17-2011 12:27 PM

For my first spoon, i think the DW PM7 is not a bad one to get.
Now the wait to get my papers processed, could take up to 4 months, hopefully sooner.

Good job Stijn! And don't worry, I don't think the Zombies are coming for a good 6 months.

svandamme 06-17-2011 12:39 PM

If we ever get zombies, in my neck of the woods, I'm Buggered.
There's a friggin WW1 cemetary at every corner of every street around here.
If those rise, i'll need more ammo then Hollywood burns in 10 years !

There is a range in Roeselare, but haven't seen it, only 25 meter if I'm not mistaken.

Not sure if you as a foreigner could shoot, gun laws are rather strict

Lemme know next time your in Flanders, I'll show you around Flanders Fields.
I live in Boezinge, near Ypres, just 20 clicks from Roeselare.

Will do! My wife has family in Roeselare, Westrozebeke and Westvleteren. I scored a six pack of Saint Sixtus last trip!

I'd love to check out some of the gun ranges and see how they compare/differ from the US.

svandamme 06-17-2011 01:18 PM

West Vleteren is just 8 miles from my door, fun miles too, narrow, farm roads, i totally love driving to the abbey for beer.

dtxscott 06-17-2011 01:20 PM

Congrats on the lapel acquisition!

I wish I could bring a few when we come back next May.

svandamme 06-17-2011 01:27 PM

Well done getting the gun. LOL you will love it. Pics as soon as possible please.

More ammo? Don't you just dig some up from the back yard and dust it off?

Jim Bremner 06-17-2011 01:49 PM

I've always wondered just how many battle field pick-ups are hiding in farm houses in Europe

Oh, i'm sure i will love it..That springfield hicap, when i held it , it didn't feel right. to wide.
This one, oh boy, it felt natural...
Nice sights too.. Bo-mar if i'm not mistaken.

The slide , safety and slide release did feel a bit stiff, but i'm sure that's just because it's new... The slide was very tight though, no wiggle or rattle... Guess that's what makes it so good and accurate.. right.

As for digging up bullets.

My house is in a highly fought over piece of real estate.. It was on a hill , looking down.
it's the second house on that T intersection. jus left of artillery woods
I think it was held by the Brits most of the time.

But that means if i do dig up ammo, it'll prolly be either British calibers, webley revolver ammo doubt i'll find .45 here .. more likely to find Fosgene mortars or shells, they found one 800 meters from my house last year (at Wasserschlosz) leaking..

Congrats! As you now qualify to join COTEP, feel free to visit the Dan Wesson forum at 1911forums.com. :D

My recommendation for when you actually have the pistol in your possession: field strip it, clean it, lube it, reassemble, and shoot it. Then shoot some more. :D

My DW CBOB .45 has about 2k rounds down the pipe without a single hiccup. It's almost as if J. M. Browning designed these pistols to be used. ;)

svandamme 06-17-2011 02:12 PM

Church of the enlightened pistolero , funny stuff.

But i'll wait till i actually have the spoon in my posession...
Till that time, i can't be a pistolero just yet.

Yeah, right! That will go over well.

Yeah, Flemish... I speak better than I write.... Just not West Vlaams :)
