BBQ with me!
I've been grilling for years.
I prefer to cook over coal or wood. Tonight I made a pizza stone out of a scrap of granite slab. here's the deal: http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120074.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120075.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120076.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120079.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120082.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120081.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120083.jpg http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...Q/P1120084.jpg Fun KT |

Hey Trek, nice work. We started to design and build a few out door kitchens. Do you build many? How did you get around the code issue using wood in that structure? I understand if they don't know about it, but for clients? I am looking for a simpler or easier way. I am thinking tin can stud. We have to get the frame welded from my welder.

Spaten...

Trek, love that table! very cool.

Once you've had pizza from a wood or lump fired grill you will never want it done any other way!

I've never tried light gauge galvanized studs, but it can't be easy given the plating and the thin metal. I'd be going after my rivet gun and some 3/16ths rivets. |
did you prewarm the stone or right onto the fire with it? i would think that that much heat applied very quickly might cause the stone to fracture. i am often concerned when putting hot pans on my stone bar top that i use as a dinner table that it could crack it as it heats too quickly. i realize you are heating the entire stone so maybe the expansion is consistent, where as my warming a 4x4 foot slab in just one area may be more trouble.

rusty 2x4" horse fencing grid and T-posts as a back drop, and galvy screw down metal roofing kitchen counter siding for the under-walls? Without the table or second riser even square, you know those things called rectangles of even lenth sides?
granited (joke in there somewhere) countertop looks great, but you wrapped the porsche up in a Yugo? okay, maybe Wilbur gave up his meat and fencing? Hoof twice on the floor for me trigger......... man, were you dumpster diving for materials or not??? Cedar or even fake rock siding isn't that expensive! All that to cook a frozen pizza? grins. Grill 'em if you got 'em! |
trek..that all looks AWESOME.

The galv matches my shed and the angles are all intentional. Same angle on the counter and the deck as well. Also, the tiles are all different sizes with no grout joints running all the way through in any direction. Thanks for looking :) KT |

It cracked. I took quite a while to heat. The crack may have been in the granite already, as that is a natural characteristic of that stone. I will try another piece and also with try a thick porcelain tile, too. KT |
You got a vineyard beside u? cool, I'd be learning how to make wine, LOL
|
I have vineyards on all sides of the property and can see them out of every window of the house.
