New Bike
Rode the VT750 out to Peoria today.
No windshield + V-twin vibration + 95º = sore and tired. I tried riding my friend's ST1100 while we were out. I don't like the position of the pedals or the narrow handlebars, but I do like the smooth 4 cylinder, the built-in windshield, and the built-in storage. So, is there a such thing as a Cruiser Tourer? Or a small tourer? I'd like a bike with the pedal position and handlebars of my Shadow, and the engine, windshield, and storage of the ST1100. Does such a beast exist? Yes, I know there is a four-cylinder Gold Wing, but that's bigger than I'm looking.

That's a NEW motorcycle! And to add to the confusion, a Z06 I've been watching for months came up for sale again (owner has been listing it for sale, not getting any takers, taking it off the market, and re-listing it for less for months).

I don't really like the cruiser riding position. I like upright, but not laid back. I'd follow Joe's advice and take a look at some BMWs as a counterpoint. In a mid size, something like the F800GS can go anywhere and do anything. Wide bars, upright position, lots of bag options.

Sorry, I can't do a "sport" riding position, even a sport-tourer.
I need the pedals to be more forward. I made it one block on the ST1100 before I got killer hip cramps.

Try the BMW RT series. Adjustable far more than the human body can conform to ....

![]() I'm riding it to LA tomorrow. Gonna be squirming by the end of that ride. I want an R1200GS Adventure so badly for the fuel range and comfy riding position, but am just too addicted to the speed of this thing.

I rode mine to Virginia and back. Then went to bike week. The V-twin is rubber mounted so there is only a little vibe at a stoplight.

I've always liked the R1200S. But if a ST1100 is not comfortable, then he can forget about the RS. Besides the new RR and the R1200S, which of course is no longer made, I'm just not that big a fan of BMW motorcycles. I'm going on almost 150K on modern BMW's and they just dont do a thing for me.
![]() I was given this K1300GT for the weekend and put about 700miles on it. Nice bike, but not worth 22K to me and my normal pillion said my bike is more comfortable. The fit and finish is excellant and I thought the ESA suspension worked pretty well. I think the handling of the RT is significantly better, but this is a very fast bike.

I test rode a K1300S and it was stupid fast. Just insane. My R12S is fast enough, but I can't stand anything slower.

I'd look at a few of the new Yamahas. They're 4-cyls and very comfortable. And they're not stupidly overpriced like the BMWs.
I could never ride a v-twin. I hate them. Noisy, lots of vibration and rattles. I've yet to be on any v-twin bike that even came close to being comfortable.

Have you looked at the Victory? The Victory Vision was rated more comfortable than a Gold Wing by Motorcycle Cruiser mag. Its a love it or hate it look, but they also have the cross roads and cross country based on the vision, very comfy bikes with hard bags. Doesn't hurt to look.

Well, quality usually does cost but in the end when you are still riding the same bike years or decades later that has not ever had a hiccup you realize that the cost is cheap by the mile, month or year. Its kinda like that expensive Rolex I bought. Got it in the PX back in the mid 1970's and paid the high price of $275 or so for it. Considering that I wore it all last week and its in great shape, when you figure that its now 35 years old, the price was a bargain.
