Dont expect pictures, the only time they allow cameras is with the coroners dept.
Isn't there a more sophisticated name for a place serving drinks overlooking the ocean, its nice but not what springs to (my)mind when somebody says they went to a great bar. |

Had some epic brawls there. One night my date and I barely made it outside to safety when a major squirmish broke out and the participants literally ripped the plumbing out of the restroom walls and began beating each other with it. I remember driving by it on the way home from another club late one Saturday night and counted eleven cop cars all lit up and flashing, parked at odd angles all around the place and a mob of people hanging around outside while the cops inside tried to get things back under control. It wasn't zackly sophisticated, but THAT was a great bar! :D |
The oldest continuously operated pub in Ireland.

^^^^ spent some time at Cold Springs Tavern. Some weekends you can catch Kenny Sultan and Tom Ball playing there. Did you ever drink at The Deer Lodge in Ojai?

"Another pseudo-legend involves the Ojai Valley as the location for the 1937 Frank Capra film Lost Horizon. The outdoor scenes of the villagers of Shangri-La and a cavorting Ronald Colman and Jane Wyatt were in fact filmed in nearby Sherwood Forest (Westlake Village) and Palm Springs. The exterior of the grand lamasery was built and later dismantled on the Columbia Ranch in Burbank, California.[6][dead link] However, according to film historian Kendall Miller in the photodocumentary bonus feature on the "Lost Horizon" DVD, an aerial shot of Ojai Valley taken from an outlook on Highway 150 was used to represent the Shangri-La valley." |
I have spent many hours in many bars... more than I care to list...
Some of my favs... Senfuku = Sushi on 6th street in San Pedro, a little worn and not too fancy, been going there for twenty maybe thirty years. Family owned, sushi chef is probably +60 years old, wife runs the kitchen, wifes sister is the waitress, son and wife pinch hit as sushi chefs when the place gets busy. San Pedro Brewery, food is so-so but great beer and drinks. Belmont brewery, food so-so but great beer and GREAT view of beach. Zelo's (been told they changed the name) in Hanalei bay Kauai, no ocean view but good view of the mountains and waterfalls when it it is raining. Great squid! I'm getting kinda jaded on bars in my older years... seems like just an elaborate way to separate you from your money... and seems like all too often there are one or more loud drunk a-holes ruining the fun. In view of that my #1 favorite is "Scooters tree house" greats margs and martinis... Ice cold beer... charcoal BBQ... view of Catalina. But the owner/chef/bartender is total jerk (me) :p |
The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, Jackson Hole Wyoming. If its still there.
In 1979 I walked thru the front door past a chalk board sign that said .... "Welcome, Waylon, Willie, and the boys". I sat in a saddle and drank Jack Daniels all night. |
Million dollar cowboy bar is still alive and kicking. Although im sure it is much more "mainstream" than it was 30 Yrs ago
