Great Bars
I've always liked a good bar, and will often go way out of my way to find something special. Not long ago I stumbled across the bar in the pictures below.
You have to imagine the pictures stitched together from left to right. They're iPhone pictures—so the quality isn't great—but they give an impression. The bar is on the rooftop of a small nine-story hotel in Stresa. I spent many happy hours here with my young wife (the back of whose head is in the middle picture) enjoying this unbelievable view, and a succession of very fine Negronis. I would love to see photos of your favourite watering holes! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315214095.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315214114.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315214140.jpg |
Looks like a beautiful place. Guess they don't get rain there.
Since I stopped drinking 30 years ago I probably won't be a very good source of pictures but I have some great memories from bars I had frequented prior to that. |
The bar at the top of the Hotel Dona Maria in Sevilla is one of my favorites. You can almost touch the spires of the Cathedral de Santa Maria and you can see the doors of the Alcazar is just down the street.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1315220392.jpg

The term 'Great' as applied to bars has morphed somewhat for me over the years...certainly the one originally pictured looks excellent.
The best bar I have ever been in? Marine Corps Recruiting Depot Officers Club in San Diego on a Friday night in the '80's: A combination of Olongapo, surf city, Tijuana and Midwestern fresh. It was a riot of goodness. |
my new favorite!

Dottore, I say great respect and as one lawyer to another . . .
I think I hate you . :) Now get back out there and drink something nice at that ourtrageous bar. |

Sand Bar (now Vigilucci's Restaurante) on Pacific Coast Highway in Carlsbad, California.
Bar Rister near the courthouse in Vancouver, BC. Bar Bell next to Pyrite's Gym in Placerville, California. Bar Fly at the airport in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. Bar Tender downstairs from a sports injury clinic in LA. Bar Code in the San Jose Computer Mall. Raised Bar next to AA meeting hall in Beedlesburgh, Arkansas. Bar of America in San Francisco, renamed after being sued by B of A after opening in a small storefront from which they'd vacated and the bar put up their sign in B of A's colors and font. Bar Stool across the street from a proctology clinic in Yuma, Arizona. Bar B Q, a peaceful little bar in Maquoketa, Iowa, owned by a little old retired librarian, Bee Quiet. Bar Made, suspected hangout of mob hit men in Queens. Bar Nun in an old convent in Chardon, Ohio, "Bar Nun, Best Bar, Bar None!". Sorry - No photos. |

Always packed on the few days a week he's open. http://fototime.com/88AB72ADA4C49C4/standard.jpg Made it to this twice in the last year. http://fototime.com/86BF747F7B4482E/standard.jpg And my favorite sushi bar in Pasadena, CA. Eric: Thanks. What program did you use for that stitch job?
Rick: The Augustiner in Munich. Have you been to the Augustiner monastery a few miles west of Munich? Great place to be a monk! Vinny: That looks like a place for some very serious drinking! |
