Nope..repops are repops...just ask any real Cobra (or speedster) owner...repops may be fun driving toys, but they are still repops.

Google. Gt 500 motive that's my 2007 twin turbo supercharged gt 500. 1046 rwhp
I just bought a 1975 us Carrera with a 3.6 from my brother. Keeps me out of trouble while still letting me drive a cool car..260 hp is not as much trouble

Nothing wrong with a well-sorted replica with a genuine SOC motor...

Nothing "wrong" with repops...but they aren't the real deal, that's all. Like I said, fun drivers...

From what I understand, a lot of them are better than the originals. Authenticity has tremendous value, just more than almost all of us can afford.

I can see you're tempted...hell, if you like the repops, go for it. They are fun drivers, and you could well be right about them being "better"...modern upgrades and all. "better" drivers...

I wonder if you could tell the difference between say a Kirkham and a CSX 4xxx vehicle. Other than the lack of paint on the Kirkham.

With an SOHC mtr in a Cobra you you could do 200 + Mph....if you can keep it on the ground... BTW I have the motor for a REAL COBRA sitting in my Garage...Ford 427 factory Dual Quad, cross bolt mains ..Center Oiler...came out of a 63 1/2 Galaxy...STANDARD BORE...and not a pieced together motor...bin out of a car since the mid 80's..and it is a death wish motor...Find one...$30,000.00 OBO Bin in a 65 and 72 Mustang...The 72 Mustang is a heavy car and that motor made that car squirelly. In the 65 Mustang..it was a death wish... About 4 years ago I watched an auction with bunches of Ford HIPO parts in the midwest where a Ford 427 SOHC motor on the floor went for $50,000.00 One in a mid 60's Galaxy went for about $60,000.00.

A few years back a former MIG factory in Poland was turning out Cobra Alumium Bodiies ..only difference between and original and the Polish version was that the Polish one was symetrical...whereas the hand bucked originals wer asymetrical .
U got the bodiy and put your own drive train in it...

THe Ford 427 SOHC was designed for NASCAR...but the rules were changed and they were never put in a car...Ford then sold them on the floor for you to do what you wanted with them.. Once upon a time there was a guy in Upland Ca that had 2 or 3 of them sitting in a row in the back of a small industrial unit..
This is a different mtr than the BOSS 429 hemi..which was put into the 69 and 70 Fastback Mustangs ..Thus BOSS 429...these were never all that fast.. It wa sthe Ford 427 SIDE OILER in the GT40's that killed Ferrari at Lemans in 66 & 67...that mtr could do 7 Grand all day.... The 427 Center Oiler had problems getting oil to the Main Journal Bearings so that you could do 7 grand for short periods...and it was th eimprovment of Side Oiling that solved the problem..of running all day at 7 grand...

Tabs,
Don't forget the tunnel port head 427's and 302's. I missed out on a tunnel port 302 engine due to my reluctance. It was when I had my '67 fastback. How rad would it have been to have one of the couple hundred of '67 trans-am race engines in a semi street car!

Suckered me in! I thought you meant actual 'Shelby' cars -- like those actually touched by Shelby Car Co. not the badge-licensed current cars.
Did have one. Real attention getter, but did not love it.

And I thought I'd see pics of SHELBY Dodge Chargers, GLH-S's and other "k" cars

Hey Tabs, if you make me a killer deal on the 427 CO, I'll take it. I'm taking delivery of a Shelby "continuation" car in November and I'm still trying to determine which direct I want to go with the engine (427 side oiler or center oiler block, or an aluminum block).
