After replacing the whole front of the big block in the Buick, I put the electronic ignition back in (I hate points) and retimed it this weekend. At the same time I installed the hood off a 1969 GS400 and the ram air parts for under the hood. I think it came out ok, the grilled needs to be aligned, but it doesn't bother me much.
Next I may add some nice old style look Torque Thrusts, but she's ready for the street this summer, and for a big old wagon, pretty quick. |
Dang I forget to add the pictures, and when you go back and edit there isn't an option to add them (I also posted in the Random Transportation Thread, so sorry if you have seen them twice).

BTW is a mid-1990s VW TDI Passat wagon anything special? I have a neighbor who is telling me it is special, made in an Audi plant with MB components or something. (he is not a car guy)

My wagon...
Absolutely love station wagons, in particular those from the 60's. Here is my '65 Olds Vista Cruiser.

Back in the good old 80's!
My Datsun 510 - man that baby would scoot! (+ our cat "Missy") http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...67903853_n.jpg For you surfers - that's an official Energy Surfboards (Simon Anderson/thruster) decal on the back window - this is when the thruster first became in vogue! Sticker on the front: "I'd rather be surfing" ;) |
In order to have any real load-hauling capability it has to have allot stiffer suspension in back, which makes it heavier.
it also has to have a stronger frame, unibody doesn't do well with out big ole stiffeners, which makes it heavier. All that extra sheet metal and glass on the back end behind the rear axle affects handling, and make it heavier. A pick-up truck makes so much more sense to me. |
