I get you here... ...but once anyone starts acting aggressively around my family, I'm going to assume it will continue to escalate. Maybe there was only a 1% chance that would happen, but if you have kids, I'm sure you wouldn't risk harm to them on even a 1% chance....

In a perfect world, you could pimp-slap fools who need it with impunity. I would have loved the old west. I have good manners in public and have never had a problem with people wanting to "adjust" me out in the world. But so many people need it.

Unfortunately, in the real world of 2011 you can get arrested for hurting someone's feelings. The fat, deranged woman could have been arrested for assault in many states just for that angry verbal rant. You think I'm kidding? Look up 3rd or 4th degree assault in MN. If a woman like that got into my family's face, rest assured, I wouldn't be sitting behind the wheel filming. I am not a violent person, but I would be in her face for certain.

My take -- if you want to save the world by driving a Prius, then by all means, go for it. I will respect you for your "noble" cause, but only if you respect me for having the freedom to NOT adhere to your noble cause.

Don't put all Prius drivers in the same bucket. Recently I was driving north on Route 1 in CA after attending Rennsport Reunion IV. I was driving about 80 mph or so in my rental Impala when I noticed a car coming up from behind. I was passed by a Prius doing about 90 mph!

Didn't know they even went that fast, & in my experience they are usually driven pretty slowly...but apparently not all of them.

There's about a hundred different ways that she could have approached that situation. The one she chose speaks pretty cleary to her character and the type of person she is.

I had one of these moments last week at my son's regional cross-country meet. He finished his race (did great, going to states) and I was walking back to my car. There were some young kids yapping, swearing a bit, booty BS, f bombs but I could care less. I keep walking.

I hear a very petite voice behind me, "Why are you swearing? You're better than that."

Uh-oh.

So I turn back...I'm maybe 30 feet away from both the lippy kids and the, no kidding, 4'8" woman. We all eye each other.

The kids, two girls and two guys, not very imposing, run the numbers. I'm doing the same math and do not say a word.

They apologize to the lady.

She is parked next to me and after a quick knuckle bump, she tells me she works part-time at the school (near Annapolis, Md) and really had no idea why she said anything to the kids.

I honestly have no idea, beyond intervening should they have escalated, what I was going to do. Makes you think just how fast circumstances intrude: I went from being so pleased at Jack's performance (he fell, see pics below and still finished in the top 20) to helping a chatty small woman.

Life it's own self.

A good argument can be made that what you're driving is much "greener" (I hate that term) than driving a Prius.

the lady in question has built an identity or self around being "green"... I am more green than u or I care about this earth more than you, displaying more unconscious behavior than the guy driving the truck,lol. Had he been drawn in to her drama and engaged in a shouting match etc he would have brought himself down to her level and taught his kids the same way of dealing with people. Had she touched them in a inappropriate way all bets would be off. She was having a hard time pushing his buttons which was clearly disappointing to her hence she moved to the wife seeking more control and drama to feed her ego(false sense of self)

Personally i think....I would have just locked the doors and cranked up the windows...let her start beating on the trk...Just ignore her.
Its a hard situation to come out smelling OK
