| FoxNews.com A yacht captain said Friday that he lied to authorities about Natalie Wood's mysterious death, and blames the late actress' husband, Robert Wagner, for her drowning off the coast of Southern California. Thirty years after her drowning was ruled an accident, a homicide investigation has been opened in the death of the Oscar-nominated actress. Davern told NBC TV's "Today" show on Friday that he made mistakes by not telling the truth about events leading to her death, and urged Los Angeles County sheriff's homicide investigators to reopen the case. "Was the fight between Natalie Wood and her husband Robert Wagner what ultimately led to her death?" morning show host David Gregory asked. "Yes," Davern replied. "How so?" "Like I said, that's going to be up to the investigators to decide," Davern said. Davern said he believes Wagner intentionally kept the investigation into Wood's death low profile, and didn't do everything he could have done. When Gregory pressed Davern for supporting details, the captain said that was the duty of investigators. Yeah. My money is on Robert Wagner.
Robert Wagner, Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood on a boat—drinking heavily. That was never going to end well.

The LA Times published a lot softer version of that story not leaning on RW so hard. At the time it seem way suspicious to me that the coroner decided it was an accident. Since when is the coroner jury and judge?
I think the coroner can say what probably didn't happen. He said Wood had bruises on one knee/leg and alcohol content of .014. IOW, for a tiny lady, she was dead drunk. Well, he got the dead part right. |

The captain's book was published in '09. He says all the details that he is willing to cite are in that book. Why is this coming into light now?
I guess the Today Show writers are digging for stories. Must be a dearth. |

Alcoholics and boats don't mix well. At the end of the day, it was an accident. He did not mean to kill his wife. There might be some negligent homicide or 3rd degree something involved, though.

Stef Powers was never married to Holden...they were buds who loved Africa.
I believe it was some kind of accident..the full story of which has not been told. There might even be some contibutory behaviorial factors.
