what kind of food would you serve to a bunch of elderly people?
wife and i have an idea. invite all the old single ladies over for a holiday meal. we are surrounded by them.
i know they can booze it up so i could make old school drinks like manhattans and stuff..martinis. what should i serve them? thinking of using some slow cooking kungfu. maybe slow braised swiss steaks or short ribs? i'm pretty sure i cant shock their systems with a standing rib roast...or can i? hate to make them ill with such rich foods. ideas please. they spend to much time alone eating soup..i want to start a tradition with the old ladies..well there is one older couple still married. angry, bitter lady..but we get along fine.

Being in my 60's...
myself, I would want something straightforward, like lasagna etc. Pizza , burgers. Kiss principle - keep it simple. Make it easy on yourself - you are not there to impress. If you are serving alcohol, you might have to drive them home or better still have a designated driver to pick them up and drive them home.

Anything that would be easy for them to eat. Keeping in mind dentures.

Meatloaf is a great idea! Mashed garlic potatoes. Creamed corn.
Funny five alarm chili idea! Haha. I have only one toilet.

Lots of booze and a lasagna spiked with Viagra. It will be a Christmas for the record books.

Boil some carrots then smash them into a paste.
I learned this the hard way. Go very light on any seasoning you use, even salt and pepper. Put some on the table. When I asked for suggestions, the most common theme was boiled potatoes, boiled carrots and either a ham or meatloaf. Basically school cafeteria food. |

![]() Anything you make for them will make them happy. They are often light eaters and finger food, or small quantities of a couple of different things may be more fun than one type of food (like a big pot of spaghetti. angela

If you have good rapport with a few, might I suggest asking some of your intended guests to help plan a menu? You do all the cooking and food acquisition.
