What a shame. A valuable lesson, also. RIP Whitney.

There is not one among us in whom the devil does not dwell.
At some time on some point that devil masters each of us. It is not having been in the dark house, but having left it that counts. Theodore Roosevelt She didn't leave the dark house. Most don't. Sorry to hear. |

Sad. She was a great bookmark in our lives with her talent. One has to wonder if her life would have gone down a better path if Bobby hadn't entered her life.

Found her to be a sad story of late.
Was pulling for her to get things right. Damn shame.

I don't really know what to say as I am a little shocked. It seems I sort of missed her downward spiral. She was a huge talent.

A beautiful lady with one of the best voices in the business. I loved her in the bodyguard.
RIP Whitney. You'll be missed by many people. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apparently Bobby Brown is struggling with her death. Maybe he should have been nicer to her when they were together.

The Needle And The Damage Done
I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door I love you, baby, can I have some more Ooh, ooh, the damage done. I hit the city and I lost my band I watched the needle take another man Gone, gone, the damage done. I sing the song because I love the man I know that some of you don't understand Milk-blood to keep from running out. I've seen the needle and the damage done A little part of it in everyone But every junkie's like a settin' sun.

Just an amazing natural talent that comes along once or twice in a lifetime. I'm convinced had she not married that POS her life would have turned out better/longer. RIP

What would you do with fame and fortune? Get a GT
3RS?...... Club Race?....Start a business?.....be a mentor?...... We all have talent of some sort. She was a drug addict who surrounded herself with crappy people. Yes this is loss of talent but save your tears, this was inevitable.

Before you form a lynching party for Bobby Brown, that whole story of the bad guy corrupting the angel is pure BS. Just forget about it. Whitney was her own person 1000%. I'm not going to go into how or why I know this here and now, but I do. But hang on to your fantasies if it makes you feel better.
She was an artist. A complicated person with otherworldly gifts. She will be missed. Let's focus on her enormous contribution to pop culture and American life. This video just has everything; never has this song inspired more patriotism in me than this spine-tingling rendition in her prime. She was an American. A unique arch type to our culture, the southern black gospel singer turned R&B star. We should be so proud, nothing else. Ours is a great culture.

I never really like her music much, but she had a voice and skill to use that voice properly.
There are other "diva's" out there that have a decent voice, but most don't carry their voice as well as WH did, they always have to show boat their voice, and whale to be noticed. It's especially noticeable when you compare them singing your National Anthem. WH just sang the song, compared to those others started whale-ing it and show boating the song to look good themselves. I'm not going to mention them by name, cause simply don't deserve to be named in WH's thread..

The premature deaths of gifted performers are always written off with that Taoist saying attributed to Lao Tzu: 'The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long.' Show business is challenging. When you’re hot, you’re in demand & it’s all about the money. All too often the industry ignores the fragility of its performers.. Whitney Houston’s fateful death isn’t the first to prove this. It will not be the last.
