I gotten a report of blood in the stool........
I've been on the "5 year plan" for around 10-11 years and my number has come up again......auggh. My gut guy has retired. I can only hope the next wrench is as good as the old one.

JP, sorry to hear that. As a fellow Crohnie I know what it is like.

Best of Luck!

Prep was no biggie. I had eaten lightly the 7 days prior in an effort to begin with a fairly clean system, and it seemed to have paid off.

The mixture wasn't bad to drink at all, and the results were not nearly as "explosive" as I thought.

I remember that once I was on IV and wheeled into the procedure room, I was watching the heart rate monitor, the tech began injecting the anesthesia, and then the nurse was saying "wake up" to me back in the recovery area.

I felt a bit wonky all day yesterday, but I woke up this morning feeling great.

Can't run until tomorrow as they removed a polyp, but other that that I'm happy to say this wasn't a big deal.

Doc says I'm on the 5 year plan now, so that's good.

Just glad I had it done.

Good for you, I am currently on the 6 month plan :(

Byron,

Keep the faith, man. As most of you guys saw, I lost my father just a few months ago after being diagnosed with Colon Cancer just three months earlier, and he had been going to his doctor regularly. That has made me change a lot of things in order to hopefully not have any further issues.

I had a lot of apprehension as well.

Was secretly happy when my first appointment got cancelled and it took over a year for my doc to get me to make another one.

Aside from the horrible stuff you have to drink it really was no big deal at all.

What I will say is the peace of mind and reduction in stress you get from a clean result is priceless.

When the doc tells you everything is OK and you walk out of there knowing that, for today at least, this is not how your story ends it's a beautiful day.

Yea, walking out under doctors orders to fart often and at will is great. :D

He did not put a time limit on that so let it it rip!

Yeah and bring a towel for the car ride home, especially if you have fabric seats.

If there's anytime you can't trust a fart, that's the time.

Had my first a few weeks ago. The prep was nowhere near as bad as I'd been told and the procedure was nothing - I slept through the entire thing. The only thing that sucked was getting the IV stint put in. I hate needles at the best of times so having that thing sticking in my hand for 15 minutes before they put me out was really annoying. I'm back in 5 years and won't worry about it one bit.

Thin people can be a challenge but have repeatedly been told the issue is too little fat in the abdominal cavity allows the colon to move around when being scoped...which makes advancing the scope challenging, uncomfortable and long. Remodeling (surgery) can create twist and turns where there may previously have been none. However, surgery to remove a significant segment can make the distance and procedure much shorter.

I had one a few weeks ago it wasnt bad at all, but the prep taste was BAD... I cant believe in this day and age they cant make something that tastes decent.. lol.. They found two precancerous polyps that turned out to be benign, so I am now on the 5 year plan.

Mine was mixed with Gatorade, so the taste not bad. This is the 1st time prep gave me any issues, and the 1st time recovery was felt too, rough day. At least 6, a few dime sized, doc wasn't pleased with what he found, not saying anything until after biopsies come back, and results from another test i had to do after. But I am doing atrack event this weekend and currently enjoying Savannah nightlife. Wouldn't do any good to dwell, so put some new R1s on the S and ready to play http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1477706818.jpg

Love that S, Byron.

I had my colonoscopy in mid August. I want to thank those folks that have gone before me, because it was here I read about tapering your eating prior to starting the purge. I got the Gatorade and mirolax mix. It was not bad at all.

This was my first colonoscopy and the doctor and I were expecting to find nothing. I had just turned 51. Unfortunately, a nearly 2 inch tumor was found. The biopsy came back as pre-cancerous (high-grade displaysa). I was immediately referred to a surgical oncologist. I went in for surgery on September 19th. Surgery went well, but the next week in the hospital was miserable. I'd have a colonoscopy a month for a year, before I'd spend another week at the hospital. Between, the noise, the interruptions, and the lack of sleep I'd was getting sicker the longer I stayed. Finally got home and started feeling better right away. After the week in the hospital, I was at home for two weeks. I returned to my desk job at about 80% and it took a couple more weeks before I was 100%.

I ended up loosing about 12 inches of my large intestines, from the end of the small intestines to part way across the transverse large intestines. This was done laparoscopically, and I have one 3 inch scar and three smaller ones.

The pathology report came back and I was clear of cancer. I am a very fortunate person. Many prayers were answered and I am thankful for all of them.

I also want to thank the folks that have posted here. Their experiences helped me get through my colonoscopy and the second prep I went through for the surgery.

I have made a pretty complete recovery. I'll never be constipated again, I know that.

Thanks Pelicans.
