While still drugged up and behind the curtain, my wife said the nurse asked the mexican guy next to me if he spoke English. I guess I blurted out "No, but I bet he could sell you a chicken!" She was mortified and apologized, said she would never go with me again.

Mmmm, magnesium citrate is really not too bad. This could be the best colonoscopy yet!

You drinking the lemon-lime flavor? Party on! I was so happy to eat solid food yesterday afternoon. I feel your pain...

Todd, This one is for you.

They'll check the polyps and worst case is I come back in 5 years, best case is 10 years. Had some lunch and now pondering a nap.

Fwiw I worked yesterday until 6pm, came right home and started the prep. Did work email this morning, then had a 10:30 appt, was out by noon, and I'll likely be doing work email this afternoon.

yer a musician, you had to have a tortured something...

General rec's: age 50 white no family history

If a 1st degree relative (mom, dad, sister) had CRC diagnosed before age 60, get scoped either 10 years before their age of dx or 45 (so if dad got it at 45, start at 35)

Nostatic, glad it turned out ok.

Is that doctor speak?

I like the Dave Barry description:

It tastes -- and here I am being kind -- like a mixture of goat spit and urinal cleanser, with just a hint of lemon. :D

My turn on Tuesday. At least I have Monday off for the forced clean out.

Does beer count as clear fluid? I think I can live on beer for a couple of days!

Up periscope!

Beer counts as clear fluids but showing up w/ alcohol on your breath is poor form. Along those lines, sedated a FT employed postal worker last week that admitted to over 100 beers/ week. I know this person and he's been w/ the USPS for a long time. Nice guy but jeepers!

billybek 11-11-2012 03:51 PM

A 100 a week!
Holy Dina....

porsche4life 11-11-2012 04:10 PM

That's less than 20 a day, I dont see the issue. ;)

Dave's okay, but you haven't been entertained until you read Agent Picolax. It's long, but worth every second of the read:

Singletrack Magazine | The Picolax Thread Returns

Great thread! Thanks for posting the link!

I'm a pro at these now!!! BUT...The first one I drank the prep cleanser (pico-salics or something like that) And went off to work for the day. Sh#t my pants while on the phone with a customer (true story). When your body says its time to run, you run NOW!!!!!

billybek 11-12-2012 09:02 AM

I haven't eaten in an hour and I am hungry already!

I had a colonoscopy about 10 years ago and I don't remember going through as much prep as I need to now.

recycled sixtie 11-12-2012 09:04 AM

A couple of years ago I did not change my routine of a walk after the cleansing prior to colonoscopy.
Same thing - an accident. Takes me back to my childhood after a prune eating competition. Next time will be different hopefully!

At least you understand that much.

Even if you hate everything about the thought of the procedure, get one done because your children love you.

Hiromi Shinya, he developed the technique and equipment. He did my first colonoscopy about ten years ago. I had him autograph my a$$. (google him)

I just had my second c'scopy and the doctor who did the second one asked who did the first, I told him and he was shocked. He seemed impressed that he could follow in a famous person's "footsteps" so to speak.

Hugh R 11-12-2012 12:00 PM

Get one

I'd probably be dead now if I didn't have one 8 years ago.
