Anyone interested in a Farm in Texas for a large family?
My Aunt/Uncle's place located in Burnet, Texas (google that, Texas Hill Country) was recently listed: a very unique property.
24 acres, fenced. -main 3-story farm house (1980) -living room addition (1988?) -master suite addition (Entry, office, bedroom, massive bath (platform tub with chandelier, walk-in stone shower, linen room, twin closets & vanities), wet bar, toilet room with bidet, back-room office & closet, stairs to attic, stairs to basement, overlooking long patio, screened in porch for BBQ's. ($400k, built in 2003) -20x25 basement with engineered tornado vault (6 sides poured concrete, phone, guns, food) and storage for seasonal decorations, wood shop, etc; (did I say big basement??) -detached 3-car garage with shop area & enclosed storage area (roughly 40x40), 1993. -circular drive way, cattle guard entrance, stone entry at roadway. -metal roofs on all structures -Small boat/motor/trailer to play on Lake Buchanon or Inks Lake -in-ground 40'x20' pool, 9' deep or so -detached 2-story pool house (aka bunk house), 2 rooms, 1.5 baths, kitchen, living (1979). -barn: fits two trucks + rear storage -agricultural exemption for property-tax purposes -sheep pen or so -two tanks: one small, one medium: neither deep enough for fish. -4-5 acres around house & peripherals is all smooth & mowed regularly. -maintenance equipment available with purchase (tractor & peripherals, lawn equipment, etc). 5 miles from town, 15 miles from one of the largest lakes (8m across, Lake Buchanon) in Texas. See 24 more pictures through the MLS link below: MLS 2412 CR 334, Burnet TX 78611 | MLS# 9892219 | 23.927 Acres out of the GC&SF Railroad Co. & J.R. Sexton Surveys, I spent 20+ years here, helped design the (~400k) master suite, & can tell you anything from the photos. Time to downsize, they're asking $819k. Could be a perfect country house for a family, a bed & breakfast, or even a corporate retreat.

Beautiful property and location as well. Hugh, do you have a spare 817k you could loan me?

Astonishing what that kind of money can still buy you in some parts of the world! I just paid more for a 2 bedroom apartment!

Agreed Dottore: pretty dang private too. I'm working on an arial map of the property as well, should have that to give to the realtor as well: too much to describe; garage & circular driveway don't even show up. :/

I'm working this week in San Francisco on an old house that cost 2x this price, needs $1M in renovation and sits on almost zero acres. And it was a bargain, the cheapest house in the 'hood by long shot. The 'hood is Pacific Heights.

You are right, I will go low and toss the rest into a shifter cart track in the backyard.

Hey, I ran a go-cart around that back yard last fall: beat the crap out of me but sure was fun.
![]() 819k is asking price: I'm sure they'd consider a reasonable offer. I'll get pictures of the driveway, garage this weekend: going out to take out a tree that's not up to par.

Yes, white tail deer central. They also have Dove & Turkey that wander in-out. Yes, crazy girls everywhere.
![]() Oddly, a pair of Canadian geese landed on the tank just 4 weeks ago, honking away: never seen that before.

I dunno... doesn't look like it would go for a penny over $800k.

Last time I was in NY I was blown away by the rent prices: unreal; not a fun way to spend your retirement when you could have a farm in Texas. The breeze out there is endless, pure.

How long is the drive to Austin? That would be a very nice property...

SW Austin: 1.5 hours via Hwy 71 to 281, or 1 hour from North Austin via 183N & Hwy 29: so not too far.
