Thanks Michael, i'll keep that in mind.

I just figured i'de visit it because it was en route, and of historical meaning , the big nazi buildings, and the post war trials. Didn't really thing of the castle..

Wurzburg is on the same roue..
Cologne as well, but if we are that close to Belgium, we'll be in the home stretch.. with many miles under our belt..

Dusseldorf is a detour for our return leg.

anyway, keep em coming, other then Auschwitz and Prague, it's going to be open ended, not plan to much ahead and see what we feel like doing at the time. so the more ideas , the more options we will have.

Doesn't sound like you'll have much time for adding stops. But if you're headed through Wuerzburg from Prague, you should stop in Bamberg. I really want to go there, but probably won't make it on this trip. If you want to dip further south, Ruf is in Pfaffenhausen.

adding no, but
Day 1 drive to Poland
Day 2 Auswitchz > drive to Prague
Day 3 Prague > Drive to somewhere
Day 4 visit somewhere > last leg home

so there is room to do/visit/find something because we did half the driving on day 1, and then the remaining half, can be divided over 3 days...

Unless we stick around prague for 2 days, but then the last leg will be a bit longer..

Dusseldorf ranks low on the list... we had a company office there.. didn't think it was that exiting there

Shuie, when will you be there? I'll be in Duesseldorf, actually Neuss, from around June 1-5. I'm staying with a guitar and Porsche buddy and we're gonna do some wrenching.

Probably around the 15th. I'll be in the Dortmund-Luenen area for work that week and most likely stay in Dusseldorf the night before I fly back home.

I'm seriously jealous of anyone who has had a chance to spend a lot of time in this part of the world. This was my first trip to Germany. I may get to go to the Czech Republic on this project as well, but not Prague

Well i kinda live in this part of the world Dusseldorf ain't that far away
They send me onsite to a customer for an install, and i'll just drive up there , do what needs to be done and get back in one day...
Mind you, that would be a long day, but still doable.

If you guys want , weekend of 15th june , be happy to throw a BBQ and show you round Ypres Salient..

Man, I would really love to see Belgium! I don't think I will be able to on this trip, tho. I'm going for work and will only be in Germany for the week. My wife is tagging along to do tourist stuff. This will be her first trip to Europe. I'm sure she is going to be hooked after the week in Germany and that we will come back and do a proper European tour sometime in the future.

Another vote for Bamberg. Beautiful city, some of the best bier in all of Germany. I spent 3 years there and loved every minute of it!

What's the name of that museum? Must visit. Though museums are usually closed on Mondays in Germany and I don't know if I'll make it on Sunday.

If you go to Prague, pay to visit (cheap) the Old Jewish Cemetery. They've been burying Jews there for centuries. Its an amazing sight.

Not sure it is on the way for your trip, but Buchenwald is near Weimar and worth a stop if you're doing WWII history.

We've also had some really good experiences visiting Dresden:

If you get to Prague, the monestary on the hill behind the castle makes for a great view:
