99 Miata top...
The new owner of my old '99 Miata contacted me to see how to improve the condition of the convertible top. I seem to remember putting on Armerol on it and it gave a lustre to the black top. I am pretty sure that it is a vinyl top. Any ideas out there?

Armor All is about the worst product ever for car cleaning. I've read numerous articles about its silicone base contributing to drying out interior vinyl and rubber, and it makes everything a greasy mess. There are a number of very good rubber and vinyl cleaner/conditioners that will help clean, preserve, and protect. I use Meguiars Natural Shine, though I'm sure there are others just as good.

I cannot do that because she said her boyfriend has a new old aircraft and wants me to check it out and maybe get a ride in it! Telling her to go to miata. net may be misinterpreted as telling her to go to h--l!
Thanks also to posts 3 and 4. All suggestions are gratefully received and will be passed on. |

While my Miata was purchased for street driving only, I did buy one with a hard top and limited-slip diff- Just in case.....
I've been happy racing the 944, so the Miata will most likely remain a street car as long as I own it. |

Vinylex
Vinylex by Lexol I did a lot of research on it a while back and it checked out. O'Reilly Auto Parts was the only place that I was able to get it. They didn't have it on the shelf, but they did have Lexol leather cleaner and protectant. They ordered it for me and got it the next day.

Hardtop is the only way to go.
No more worries about leaking, better looks, less girly. |
