They may be greedy but they're not stupid. They have no doubt paid a boatload on their research to land at that price-point. The fact that to motels/hotels are following suit tells me they are all expecting enough customers at that spot.

That's exactly what I mean.

Am jealous!!

Noah930 04-30-2012 09:39 PM

Well this makes it an easy decision on whether to attend or not.

Tishabet 04-30-2012 10:12 PM

You could fly business class from the US to Malaysia and attend in the grandstand next season for less... Crazy.

are any of these ticket prices confirmed? I have seen no official announcement on ticket prices, other then the PSLs, but those include a 10 year seat deal. at this point I am still planning on going.

Oooh! Oooh! I know the answer to this one!

This time, there will be more than 6 cars racing!

Guys, guys...contain your outrage. Individual ticket prices are not out yet (AFAIK). If they're ridiculously high, I plan to enjoy the race in the comfort of my family room.

Feel free to be outraged once the prices are released.

You are going to have a ball. It is a spectacular location and a great circuit. If you pass through Adelaide let me know and I'll fire up the bbq with some kangaroo steaks :D

I added some green to my post. Just so you know I was being sarcastic, as opposed to just being a dick.:D

This info came from COTA, and my info came from Autoweek. The prices are for the seat ticket and also the personal seat license. These are the prices as of today. Hopefully, there will be loads of low prices tickets for the masses. According to their release, only 3 grandstands will be built, front straight, turn one and 2 in turn 15, so plan on bringing a chair. Tickets without PSL will come out early summer.

widebody911 05-01-2012 04:39 AM

Ticket prices (and hotel prices) are such because some numbnuts is going to pay it. Same goes for 'seat license fees' which in French is pronounced sodomee

cairns 05-01-2012 04:51 AM

I went to the Australian grand prix for less than that- including airfare- in business class.

agrimmitt 05-01-2012 05:17 AM

This is just ripping off those wanting to attend the event live!

Sorry Guys
But for that level of cost you can take one of the many listed "F1 Racing trips" to most if not all of the European and some of the S. America events. (everyone has airline mileage to use up) It would be great to attend (and not to say I will not be attending), but everything will be priced higher than is fair. Nobody like to feel he or she is getting ripped off, and we don't yet know if the promoters can in fact pull it off on time? I have attended Daytona and Sebring this year, and have plans in the works to attend Le Mans (all for much less than those numbers)
Watch it on Speed afterwards:D

One and done.......

Maybe NJ race will stick.

David 05-01-2012 05:33 AM

They're selling to corporate buyers right now. I'll buy my tickets this summer when regular grandstand seats go on sale.

Exactly, individual ticket prices won't be out until this summer. The PSLs which are the only things available now are actually for 15 years.

Well, thank goodness tickets don't actually cost $6700.

He forgot to mention the $40,000 tag on the one, but then that's a box for 8 people for 15 years too.

Exactly, nothing to get your panties in a bunch about yet unless you wanted to go every year for the next 15 years.

dennis in se pa 05-01-2012 06:44 AM

There will never again be the F1 experience like we had at The Glen back in the '70's. Those were the days.
These prices are insane.
The world will soon end.

BRPORSCHE 05-01-2012 07:01 AM

Ya know wha. Even at 700 bucks a tix I may as well fly to Montreal. Montreal knows how to host a grand prix, and I am not too sure the first COTA grand prix will go without a hitch.
