Lets help this victim of bullying! wtf.......

Seriously? In the never ending quest to turn Americans into utter morons we are making great progress. This article was front page on MSNBC.com

U.S. News - Lone dolphin may be victim of bullying

sc_rufctr 05-01-2012 04:19 AM

Oh... That's so stupid.

aigel 05-01-2012 06:11 AM

People, especially city dwellers, have started to humanize animals and become far detached from wild animal life and its realities. Fish and Game officers should not spend their time riding paddle boards shooing lost dolphins to the ocean. I guess this is what they are doing now, after accepting money from animal rights extremists (HSUS). Dolphins are cool, but it isn't that they are rare or endangered. Let life go its way, isn't that why we put in place all those MLPAs recently?

These are wise words.

People talk about conservative vs. liberal but I think that it's more urban vs. rural. Idle urbanites that want to "fix" things they have only read about vs. more rural, "flyover-country" types that are actually living in it.

One can only imagine the hysteria if the "special" person who wrote that article watched a video that showed how an evil meat-eating wolf brutally murders the youngest and weakest from a herd of peaceful and eco-friendly vegetarians.

How about the tards who spent $80,000 to send a wayward penguin back home?

"How about the tards who spent $80,000 to send a wayward penguin back home?"

Yup - and then go have a turkey dinner.

The End is Near.

I was told of an English couple who had been mauled by a lion in Africa (do not get out of the car!) and were killed, they found the lioness and had to put her down. In England there was a college fund raised for the two orphaned children, raised about $5000.00. The lioness had some cubs and something like $80,000.00 raised for them.

It's on MSNBC and the story occurred in CA. That pretty much says it all.....

sammyg2 05-01-2012 02:52 PM

Why is it OK to kill a tuna but not a dolphin? Why a goat but not a chimpanzee?

Is there some fantasy rule that says you can eat dumb animals but not smart ones?
Is there a fantasy rule that says it's OK to eat ugly animals but not cute ones?

Its all our fault !!!! (humans) Our bullying has trickled down (some would say up) to the animal kingdom. One more thing we are responsible for. Global warming, acid rain. ozone depletion, etc....................

Icemaster 05-01-2012 04:12 PM

I remember begin told once that mahi mahi became much more popular after they stopped calling it dolphin fish. Never looked into whether it was true or not.

...

Obviously, you would not want to kill & eat an animal with consciousness any more than you would kill & eat another human. (well, maybe you would, sammy)

Chimpanzees and dolphins (whales) have all passed what is called the mirror recognition test - they realize that is them self in a mirror -- this is something that most human children cannot do until they are about 4 years of age.

Diana Reiss is the scientist who first found this out in dolphins.

At the opposite extreme is a tiny animal called the rotifer. It is a fun trick to take a militant vegan and explain to her that when she took that drink of water, she just killed millions of animals.

stealthn 05-01-2012 06:25 PM

I bet it wasn't other dolphins, but irratiated giant Tiger Prawns......

Zeke 05-01-2012 06:33 PM

According to what I read about 4-5 dolphins swam and chased fish into the wetlands. All but this one returned to the ocean.

It's a dolphin conspiracy.

Eric 951 05-02-2012 05:42 AM

Maybe the bullied dolphin is just a douche

In the USA eating beef is normal but horse meat is considered just wrong. The horse slaughter was stopped for many years.

Cows are ugly and horses are pretty. At least the horses you see on TV & the movies.

This is not obvious to me at all. You don't want to kill an animal that has a conscience? What's next? Not an animal that can feel pain? Not an animal that is a mammal? Not an animal that reminds you of your pet or your stuffed animal? If you go down this path, you may as well get the PETA life membership and get a "meat is murder" bumper sticker. ;)

+1

There were some ugly stories on long distance horse transporting for slaughter. That needs to be addressed, but horse slaughter and horse meat consumption of course needs to be legal. This is a good example how feel good legislation backed by the majority (of non horse meat eaters) took away the right of a minority in the US population. What's next that isn't considered edible?

pharlap71 05-02-2012 11:44 AM

I have a Swiss friend who says horse meat is a regular part of their diet.

My understanding is that citizens in several European countries enjoy horse meat. I would think it is better than dog meat. I have never knowingly eaten either.

slakjaw 05-02-2012 12:21 PM

There are people that jack horses off to breed other horses. If u ever saw it, it's just crazy man. 3 people wearing football helmets and pads and stuff.

don't be silly -- we are talking about other species that have cognitive abilities of a 4 year old human child

would you eat another human?

Just because they overlap traits with us doesn't mean they are human and that we can't kill and eat them. Killing and eating a chimp is not murder, neither is it cannibalism. Of course I do not hunt and eat chimps and have no desire to, but I fully support any human out there who does want to do so, if it is done in a legal and ethical way on a healthy population that is properly managed.

My issue here is that your argument is exactly what is used by animal rights groups to pursue their goal of eliminating all animal use.

So, what do you think on this one:
Would you use a chimp for medical tests?

G

RWebb 05-02-2012 02:43 PM

depends on the tests - some benefit chimps of course, research in Vet. Med. for example

what is your moral criteria for determining whether you will eat or kill another entity?
