Little known fact: He was a helicopter pilot (US Army) and later flew off-shore in oil & gas support in the Gulf of Mexico...

A buddy of mine is a good friend of Woody Harrelsons, and as been to his place on Maui a few times. Willie Nelson and Kristofferson live in the same compound. Must make for some very high times in that hood....

My good friend Vernon White was Willy's tour manager for years. He passed away about 10 years ago but he told many stories that keep me laughing to this day.
My favorite was of the tour bus getting stopped somewhere in the south and the state troopers bringing the drug-sniffing dogs on board. He said that the dogs got so high and disoriented that they were doing things like pointing to the shift knob and barking. |

I've always wondered if the story was true that one night when Willie passed out in bed, his then wife sewed the sheets together then beat him with a broom. If not, it still sounded good!

He was also a Rhodes Scholar, rugby player and boxer. The man can write a tune, Sunday Morninin" Comin" Down and Help Me Make It Through The Night are 2 of my favorite songs.
