camry means "blander than watered down milk" in Tongan

wouldn't an ES300 hybrid pretty much be a camry hybrid

Hugh seems to like his, toyota, not lexus

If you want bang for buck economy car, buy a Fit

I think +50% growth for the class, and +100% growth for the Prius, is doing a little better than "okay". Of course, high gas prices and Japan Inc's recovery from the earthquake plays a part. Still, none need shed a tear for the hybrids, as a group they are doing very well.

Fit and Yaris - ha! go drive them. They are bottom of the range econoboxes. I can't think of anyone here on PPOT who has one. For good reason. But, yes, if you want the cheapest possible transportation, they might be it, along with something Korean.

oh c'mon!

One of my neighbors has a Yaris and it is a LOT nicer than riding on a chain saw or leaf blower.

John, if you are buying a car for the sake of economy, a hybrid does not make sense, but you know that already.

Yaris is a nasty little car. My sister has a Fit. Economy car with a particularly crappy rear suspension, pretty color blue and bigger than seems possible inside. I would consider one if in the market for an economy car.

I seem to recall somebody working out how long it would take to recoup the premium you initially pay for a hybrid over a conventional vehicle. 8 years to break even, or somthing like that, with $5 per gallon gas.

I am not in the market for an economy car. Turbo miata is about as economical as I can manage.

My parents have a Fit, as far as cheap economy cars go it's pretty decent. Huge inside, zippy handling and engine, great MPG. For a car that starts at $15k it's a good appliance.

Many Toyota models are built on the Camry platform including the Toyota/Lexus ES and RX SUVs, Solara, Sienna, etc. They are basically the same vehicle with different sheet metal and trim and drivetrain.
