The last - "ABC of SciFi" to die...
Asimov
Bradbury
Clarke

The Illustrated Man is one of my all time favorites, and I bet almost everyone has read Fahrenheit 451 in school.

A great author-who really painted worlds with his words. I remember reading a short story in Golden Apples of the Sun, where he wrote about a school aged kid putting on that new pair of sneakers for the first time in summer. Bradbury made that simple act - relating the first inkling of the freedom ahead during the child's summer break, Bradbury made that simple truism poetic.

He will be missed.

Met him in 1981. He presented our ASCE student Chapter with an award!

He came over to our table and spent a bunch of time shooting the bull, very nice man!

Odd, that Ray scorned the internet as a scam to enrich computer companies.. yet his passing is quickly reported via it.

I hated to read until one day a teacher handed me "R is for Rocket". I then read the Martian Chronicles, the Illustrated Man and Farenheit 451.
From there I expanded to Arthur C Clark: 2001 A Space Odyssey (before the movie), Kurt Vonnegut:Breakfast of Champions, and Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land...

Wonderful writer. Could paint amazing scenes in ones mind. Hard to believe The Martian Chronicals and Fahrenheit 451 were written in the 1950's. Not sure if this is a rumor, but apparently he never drove a car and the JPL once let him remote control the Mars rover. How cool is that?

R.I.P. Mr. Bradbury and may you continue in time.
