This Board is not much different than the people you meet in life. So if you wana bail on this place, do you think it is much different out in the real world?

Where did I say I was leaving? I said this place is a bad habit. It's an addiction and I admit that. But, if I'm going to be addicted I want to enjoy the drug.
Just looking for an alternative drug. If you don't have any, STFU. Or keep on trashing. It's what a lot of you do best. |

I'd like to join a walking or hiking club this summer, maybe something thru the local parks & rec dept. Just ordinary walking speed, 3 - 4 mph, so I can talk with fellow walkers if I want to. Walking is good exercise, and very good for diabetics like me.
Also interested in joining a "water aerobics" class, for an hour of exercise 2 - 3 times a week. At the local Y, that's about $25/ month. The price includes use of the supervised exercise-equipment room. All you need for the swimming pool is swim trunks and flip-flops (for walking to and from the swimming pool). The water aerobics classes are 90% women of all ages, so that's another plus. I want to accomplish two goals -- get more exercise (without risking injury), and meet new people and start branching out into new things. _ |

OK Milt, I'll play.
I still enjoy checking out this forum, even since selling our Porsche after a great 20 year ride. As an alternate, I do find this place fun at times; General Discussion - AR15.COM Brian

Quote Zeke - "Where did I say I was leaving?"
QUOTE Zeke - Not loving this place much anymore. "That's why I gotta get out of here". From 25,000 on it's been nothing but a bad, bad habit. Not sure what would have given anyone the indication you were announcing a departure. Your words above certainly couldn't have had anything do with it! And your reaction to the feedback you all but requested is...STFU??? Trash thread indeed. Time for a look in the mirror.

Well, I'm with Motion on this. I don't post hear NEARLY as often as I once did; I've had some other interests in my life reawaken somewhat - Aviation, travel with my beautiful wife, and my dogs.
I have nothing to suggest, other than to spend more time tinkering with - and driving - your cars, and less time visiting this forum. Not none, just less. Way less. I WILL say this, however: this forum consistently proves to be by far the most civilized I've encountered - by a long shot. You think THIS place is bad? Check out any large airline specific forum. I swear, there's something about those forums that seems to cause EVERY thread to turn into a my-dick-is bigger-than-your-dick contest. That attitude is one of the things that caused me to pull away from Aviation forums so many years ago. This place is in another universe in terms of civility. ......"you watch your ass!"....LOVE IT!
Seriously, though... I guess I see what alot of you are saying. It is truly a slice of life in here, just like the "real" world. Humanity at its best and sometimes worst as well. Plenty of soft souls and plenty of hard ones, too. Certainly more than a fair share of know-it-all DB M-er F-ers as well in my humble opinion. I am truly the odd man out, here...since I enjoy racing and attend as many events as I can, including Nascar. Oh the huge manatee. I also worship motorcycles and have owned more than two dozen of them over the years---British, Japanese, German and American. I only have one left now--the one I haven't been able to part with--and it's an HD, which automatically incites many of you to scream out in disgust. Too bad for you, I say. Oh yeah--my P-car is a TARGA, too. I bet it drives a few of you crazy that I happen to love it and choose not to pretend it is something else. Again--I'm snickering inside while imagining your weak retort. And last but not least...I'm a dreaded NEWBIE who has less than 2 million posts so I can't be taken seriously anyway. Maybe I'll set up a new account as some imaginary female who crashes the board and strings a few of you desperate hard-tails along for the ride. You guys are more fun to watch than a train wreck!

I think I get your point, Zeke,
I've recently began posting here: ModelRailroadForums.com - Model Railroad Discussion Forum It is civilized to the point of boring and somewhat humorless...... but informative..... if the subject is what you"re looking for. This forum is both a habit and like a train wreck in progess......I can't stop looking.

Posting this thread then telling anyone who doesn't agree with you to STFU? Methinks a look in the mirror might be required....

i admit since my budget got cut in half, i have not been able to enjoy my 911 as much..as a track fun car, we call it "mity whitey" now that we putt it around, "betty white" is more suitable.
i like this place. made some friends, some i even consider real. this place is much more friendly than some of the bowhunting websites i hang at. not as much tolerance there..

I feel much the same as Vash.
Maybe you need to take a time out from anything on-line. Just walk away from it and see how you feel.

My opinion: This specific arena is a very free, open and mostly unfiltered place for car guys to discuss current topics and often ask for real constructive input. It is my go to for daily news and 'coffee chat'. Because of the blunt openess here from a majority of credible sources there is always a 'risk' of threads or posters going up (or down) in flames, or PARF'ing
For what it's worth Zeke, I've always enjoyed your witty postings as well as 97% of other frequent posters.........the good topics and info far outweigh the *****

I have contradicted myself. Oh well, isn't the first time, won't be the last.
But, to set the record straight, I said STFU for anyone that didn't have something constructive such as where they found some relief (new drug). I agree that PPOT is actually civil compared to a lot. And I dare say more intellectual, or it was anyway. (looking in the mirror.... yeah, I don't see anyone perfect... sometimes just a noisemaker) |

I can quit anytime... REALLY!
Thread hijack I don't see how anyone can say this place has got worse after PARF. Before PARF the OT board was dripping with mean, angry, trolling political threads... sometime half or more of the posts here were political crap. Sure people fight over on PARF and the animosity dribbles over onto OT sometimes... but still not as bad when everything was posted right here... IMHO of course. Rant over. Milt, the great thing about PPOT is the diversity, where else can you get opinions and advice from college students, business owners, blue collar workers, rich, poor, old, young, beautiful, ugly all at one place? The biggest thing I take away is a healthy dose of "don't take it (the Internet... or PPOT) too seriously." Now were was I? Oh yeah... My name is Sindy and I'm not wearing any panties

As far as a new drug... pick up a real world hobby... new or old... I started dinking around on my guitar again.
My problem is TV not internet.

You're right, I did have a lot more to talk about when I had a 911 and actually drove it. I fell out of love with 911s after owning that '88 Carrera. What a truck compared to my '71 S. Then the recession, then the shoulder pain. Couldn't drive a non power steering car now more than a few miles.
Yes, I need a real world hobby. Welding has been good, but there's the shoulder thing. Pretty much all done with cars. Most of my life is enough; it was time to not lay on the concrete a long time ago. So, my hobby became sitting here looking at you guys through the screen. Some of you don't look too bad, others not so much. Rather than a new website, I'll find a new something else.

Milt - if you get a chance, email me off-list: runeighty at aol dot com. I can provide a few thoughts based on my own experiences. Greg.
