Just got sad news from the parents at the ranch [emoji22], seems to be a common thread this week. Shelby, one of their 9 Aussies who is 13 1/2 has been putting up a tremendous fight with a neuromuscular disorder causing all loss of rear motor function causing damage to the fronts of his back feet and rubbing fur an skin raw. Today his front legs gave out and he can no longer move. They are having to make that most difficult of choices we pet owners/lovers have to make when they are family. It unbelievably hard to put this into words as so many of you have also had to experience. It will be a little quieter at the Reigning Dust Ranch tonight.

So sad.
I am certain Mr Shelby had a very good life. |
RIP Mr. Shelby and I hope you get to run and play with your buddies on the other side.

Sheesh...that sucks. So sorry to hear. Sleep well Shelby. Lot's of friends waiting on the other side.
Funny, since we lost our Mazy a few weeks ago (English Mastiff), it's been quieter around the house and the wound is starting to heal a bit (it does for all of us in time). Wife is working on me to get another one, or possibly a St. Bernard. We'll see. Our other two seem content and happy getting more attention. But man, we sure do miss that mushy blob of hugs and slobber. Bottom line, the wound becomes less "fresh", but never fully heals. We lost our girl long before her time and it'll always be hard to rationalize. Stay strong fellas. There's lots of pups out there that need good homes. It's good there's people like us that do our part to help them. |
Very sad, our thoughts are with Shelby.....

Pepper out in the BC interior. Happy dog. Swimming everyday, lots of off leash time, trail walks and countless squirrels to chase. Sorry to hear about Shelby, Bugstrider. |
Thank guys for all the kind words on Shelby. He was nothing but love and affection and it was a very sad day indeed. He put up a very courageous battle.
He will be missed. Had to find something happy to watch http://youtu.be/Uuvaos1WHTk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Been taking Zora to work whenever possible. Everybody loves her. She's very sweet and gentile.

Just had to collect urine from my dog. 5:00am, headlamp, sanitized collection jar and no time for nitrile glove. It was warmer than I imagined. Dog was staring at me with that, " can i get some personal space?" Look. Mission accomplished ! Had to store it in the fridge since appt was at 10:30. Fun times! Call it love.
