We have two dachshunds. They both follow my wife around everywhere. It is her entourage. They will follow her into every room, and always outside when she works on the flower gardens. Yesterday morning she got up and around right after sun rise to get things done before the heat hit. They were both out there with her, but they knew I was up and they suddenly abandoned her, and came in to be my best buddy. So I feed them, and they abandoned me and went back to watch dog duty for Mrs. Carrera. I know where I rank on their scale. OK to feed them or an ear scratch.

My dog was half dachshund and followed me everywhere.
Later in life he lost his sight and most of his hearing and had to be touching me almost all the time to make sure I was still there. he'd lean up against me or lay on my foot and try to keep up with me when I was walking. If I was touching him or petting him he was happy, but as soon as I stopped he'd wimper. I can't tell you how many times I took a header after tripping over him. |
My old boy will be 16 soon, and he's gotten fairly blind and deaf now, although he's still very healthy. He's not very steady on his feet and stumbles a little bit, too. There's something quite endearing about an old soul who loves you so much and relies on you for everything, and I give him lots of attention. He's been a special boy and I'm cherishing every moment I have with him, hoping for a few more years. Bodhi gets lots of love these days...

Here's Winkipop. She doesn't hear me when I come home anymore she's in such a deep sleep....lol.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1595822930.JPG |
Old dogs deserve a good sleep.
After all they give us, it is no wonder they are a bit worn out.... |
Haven't asked in a while...
Heard something strange in the back yard. Went to the back door. 5 yo Golden sitting in the back yard about 10ft from stockade fence looking at top of fence. About the time I looked where she was looking a Great Horned Owl perched on the fence hooted several times. The dog, Pepper made sounds back at the owl that sound more like the owl than any barking or whining I've heard her make. Then the owl answered back. They went back and forth several times. Then Pepper got up and walked over to me at the back door. The owl took flight up into the top of the cottonwood tree in the back yard. What the heck were they discussing? |

Quaster looks a little heardy...

He is great fun, playful and very affectionate.
Lots of working instinct and full of energy. He rounds up chickens, children, even me when we’re goofing around. Never tried or trained actual sheep herding but I think he’d be good at it. |
If you took him around sheep or goats, he would round them up and watch them for you.

A few weeks older. Sully is growing fast.
A hard day at the beach this morning. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1596935733.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1596935733.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1596935733.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1596935733.jpg It’d be nice if an iPhone would load pictures correctly. 🤬 |

Our neighbors in the 70s had a couple of Basset Hounds- Max and Louise. Our black lab Zack would go for a stroll a mile down the hill to the local Safeway with Louise, and they would call us up to say your dogs are here again. Hilarious!

We brought the little fella home on Wednesday and have slowly introduced him to our 10 year old bc girl. He is just about 8 weeks now. More photos to come! |
Snapped this ridiculous pic last night while taking a shower. What you don't see is the A/C vent ...........because he's laying on top of it. He is so spoiled, he has the dog police on speed- dial. He discovered the A/C vents shortly after bringing him home at 8 weeks. Fell in love apparently. But when the system would cycle off, he'd get up, bark and scratch the vent upset that it quit working.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597087047.jpg

Bummer day today. Think Peps might have done her ACL. Off to the vet tomorrow to get it checked.
She looks as depressed as I get when I am injured.... Poor girl. |

MrsWD took this picture of Gracie Mae a couple of days ago - just before she yelled, "Damnit Grace - get out of my flower bed!"

She went in for a series of x-rays and the new vet (like this guy) said that it was more than likely athritis in the small vertebrae above the tail and in the knee joint too. He also mentioned that it very well could be an acl tear but wants to wait to see how she reacts to Flexadin first. He said if it is torn, it will keep tearing until it needs surgery. He seemed quite positive that it was just from being overworked. The first week with the new puppy home, Peps was out to prove her worth and demanding attention which led to her being overworked. She hasn't been limping since. Thanks for asking! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1600544745.JPG |

I think they call those "Doggles", Rutager! :)

Purchased a new conditioner product to help with Winkipop's coat and skin. So far we both like it. Smells good too!

I suppose that would be the right name! He sat there wearing them without issue for long enough for me to get the iPad, log on and get the camera up. Now I know why as I just got some of the photos of his time at the vet and they used laser therapy to try and fix the muscle atrophy in his legs and he had to wear dark goggles for the sessions. |
