Haha, just did. Told him it was all the way from Florida.

Fine looking bunch of dogs there Baz. Very fine.

We’ve gone south to check on my mother in law. She’s 70 and has liver cancer. Now what’s the best thing a 70 year old with cancer can do you ask. Why buy a schnauzer puppy.

This is Maya.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1631559384.jpg

Picked up Dottie ten days ago.

Heeler/Mutt mix. She is 18 months old, raised by a nice lady in a small house and lot in Charleston, SC. Never off a leash. A friend of my daughter knew we were looking and Arden, who lives in Charleston, went to see her and gave us the thumbs up.

Amazing what ten days can do in the life of a dog. She has gone from thinking every trip out of the house is the Great Escape to completely relaxed, goes out on her own and comes back looking for escorts:cool:

My heart is heavy today. We had to help Miss Olive over the Rainbow bridge this morning. I am going to miss that girl! Best dog a person could wish for. :(

^^^ Great looking pup sorry for your loss.

billybek 09-15-2021 04:27 PM

Sorry to hear about Olive, Dan.
She looked like a good girl.

Seahawk 09-15-2021 04:39 PM

My best, Dan.

As we all know, our duty is to make sure their lives are as full of the happiness they give us, then take care of them as they cross.

I love the pic in the grass.

Baz 09-15-2021 06:26 PM

My heart is heavy tonight for you, Dan :(

But damn she had the best life a dog could ever have - so much respect to you and yours.....Olive will be missed.....:(

I am still choking back the tears as I type. She was an amazing girl. Not an angry bone in her body even after someone abused her as a puppy. I held her all night (last night) as she was in full grand mall seizures. I could not bare loading her in my truck and taking her in for the deed. With seizure comes high body temp which fries the brain. The damage had already been done. I/we (wife and I) held her, talked to her, kept her from injury to herself. Her spirit had already left her body but her body wouldn’t give up. We had a vet come here to give her dignity of passing in her own bed with us holding her.
Damn! Way too quiet in here.

It's the hardest thing we'll ever have to do, Dan.

But it's also the ultimate representation of love and respect for your companion.

It hurts just reading your words --- and I know I speak for everyone here.

The important thing is she's out of pain now.....and no doubt she's romping around with little Billabong now - so take some measure from that....

It hurts reading this. I'm glad you were able to rescue her and give her the life (and passing) that she deserved.

Danimal16 09-15-2021 08:08 PM

Dan, I am very sorry for your loss.

Bill Douglas 09-15-2021 08:18 PM

Sorry to hear this.

But pat yourself on the back for giving dog the best life she could have had.

Gogar 09-15-2021 08:31 PM

Sorry Dan. You did a good job.

KevinTodd 09-16-2021 02:25 AM

Sorry to hear about Miss Olive, Dan. The older we get, the tougher it becomes to lose a friend like this. Rest easy knowing you were there for her in her final moments. We as humans should be so lucky.

Rikao4 09-16-2021 07:18 AM

so sorry..
So enjoyed your tales of her adventures...

Rika

VINMAN 09-16-2021 01:20 PM

I'm so sorry Dan. It's the worst. :(
You gave her the best, and she gave it back to you. May she RIP.

Every one of these posts makes me tear up, especially after losing my two guys earlier this year.
Take solace in the good life you gave her, and never stop appreciating all she gave back. My condolences in this hard time for you and your familly.

pavulon 09-16-2021 01:56 PM

So sorry Dan. :(

syncroid 09-16-2021 02:10 PM

Thanks guys. It is going to take some time to not feel so hollow.
I am sure there will be another one in the future that will capture our hearts again.

Dan, just saw your dog passed. Very sorry to hear. Our guy is 12. Always fearful for him. John McGrane.

syncroid 10-01-2021 08:27 AM

I cannot be without a dog for long. There is always room in my heart. Yesterday my wife and I decided to go to the Humane Society to "look". We did the same when our dog Snap passed back in 2012. We came home with Olive. As you know, Olive passed on the 15th of this month. Her life was much to short and she was very much loved. I think Olive would be happy for us being able to love another.

Please say hello to Hazel. We think Hazel is a Pit Bull / Basenji mix. Three months old, wicked smart already, and has stolen our hearts. Here we go again....Lots of adventures to come in this one's future.

Since we have a dachshund, we love the low riders. When we were in the apt, our neighbor had a Corgi. I love the less common coloring too.

Pretty new to dog ownership (mid july). Now that all the vaccines are in, the dog got its first grooming.
