Reuben did finally get warm enough with the blanket on him to uncover himself. He loves to go outside on a 90+ degree full sunny day and lay against the brick wall on the concrete sidewalk, and soak up some sun. He will come in panting, and happy as as can be. The funniest thing is if I am outside and "catch" him sunning himself he looks so embarrassed. His ears drop down and he acts like I might yell at him for digging a hole in the yard. I think it is hysterical that he feels like he is doings something naughty.

Some of you know I lost Winkipop back in April. And Billabong the year before. :(

On the way to Mom's house this afternoon to do some work I met a beautiful little senior Blue Heeler named "Goose"!

She's 13 years old - with failing eyesight - and failing hearing - but as sweet as can be.

She already has a human - I just saw them out walking and stopped to give her some lovins'!

I can't tell you how good it felt!

Congrats Baz and Seahawk. Those pups will still have a full life ahead of them. The backmouthcur and shepard mixes are my favorites.

My own little booger Puggle. Supposedly.
Mr. Contrary sometimes.
Stubborn SOB.

But not as mighty as Mr Cat.
Mini-Tiger (thank god there is not an oversized version) who owns the world. And him. And me.
Who sits down on the sidewalk in front of a guy walk walking a couple dobermans.
Hit by cars. Bitten several times in the neck with abscesses. Stroke or something which lushed him a few weeks and continues a few years onwards.
Cat lives on somehow.
As a kitten throughout the first night in our bed he jumped on my head with claws for 4-5 hours. I finally had enough and grabbed kitten by the scruff and put him under a cold shower. After that the wet little basterd finally purred by my pillow. It ain't nothing.
Sits on command for treats. Goes for walks. Always there next to me when I sit down. More dog than the dog.

This stubborn dog's spine hairs become a full mohawk around bigger dawgs like a full Rhodisian Ridgeback. and he chases tennis balls like a Lab.
Neither classic Pug or Beagle behavior.

He walks by rabbits in the back yard but stays focused to this:

Mr. Merk 10-12-2022 01:39 PM

Ol'Jack passed away in his sleep while we were in LA for Luftgekuhlt. It's so strange coming home and he's just.....not there anymore.

He was a good dog, that we found dumped out on Jack Road, just days after returning from Luft5 back in 2018. He was dirty, skinny, very old but still spry. That autumn he rode with us in the Cayenne on a camping trip to Banff. He started having issues in fall 2019 and really declined in the last year.

Baz 10-12-2022 02:00 PM

Sorry to hear about your Jack, Mr. Merk. Thank you for giving him your caring and love for those remaining years of his life.

That's all we can do, really. I know it's still not enough as far as we are concerned.

But it really is, as far as they are concerned. And that's what really matters.

Peace to you and yours in this time of grieving.....

Danimal16 10-12-2022 05:27 PM

Mr. Merk, I am so sorry for your loss.
You loved him unconditionally when others threw him out. YOU are a saint.

I put a hood over my girls ears to keep the fox tails out of them. $200 every time she gets one in her ear. Today she disappeared on our daily walk and in backtracking this is how I found her. Trapped by a downed tree.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1665668430.jpg

One of my co-workers suffered a tragic loss recently when one of her little dogs slipped out of her harness and got hit by a car. She flew up to Spokane today to pick up her new pup, Cleo, an English Springer Spaniel. I think this is going to work out well...

My dog is now a racing dog. He is better than he has been in years and feeling it too. On the beach he's been playing chase with his friends and he didn't used to. And doing a whole lot of high speed running.

Eighteen thousand dollars later he's back and better than before. Trying hard to not bore you with details but he had a blood bile thing which made his blood gluggy so it wasn't going through his pancreas and liver. He was dying. Then there was a cancelation at Massey Uni Vets (vet school) and they stabilized him, spoiled him with love, and then took his gall bladder out. Now the nine year old dog is running around like a puppy. Lovely to see.

Kaiser passed away in my arms at home two weeks ago, just shy of his 13th birthday, and just six weeks after losing our beagle, Jack.
https://scontent.fmci1-3.fna.fbcdn.n...6w&oe=6392B8F2

We still have three dachshunds, but one is 15 and on heart medication. She's eager to fill the void with a Berner pup, but I'm not emotionally ready for another. I understand Kaiser made her feel secure. He was a gentle giant but could be incredibly intimidating when necessary.

asphaltgambler 12-05-2022 07:07 AM

^^ Wow - that is a long life span for that breed. You were Blessed to have him around @2X what is normal for their time here......

My condolences. It's tough to lose a member of the family. Some folks can get another pup (cat, whatever) right away, and some folks can't.

Great pic.

I have the "Scratch Pack" out every day weather dependent.

Dottie is the youngster, Perry is 13 and is treated with great deference by D.

The boys on Christmas. Puppy was actually pretty well behaved!

Dogs helped bring some cheer as we didn't get to be with my mom or sisters family thanks to covid in one case and sick nephew in other.
