Brother's old Rott snatched a rat in mid air when clearing a wood pile, she was a blur, then a crushed rat on the ground. Brindle I have now got a blue jay that thought 5 feet was high enough

There was a lot of energy in the air on our walk about today.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1687901813.jpg We took our time, stayed back. Even the Jack, 12, decided the day was worth the squeeze: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1687901933.jpg He knows what he is doing. Fun to watch. Best to all...back inside! |
Love it, Paul!
I'm sure everyone here is aware but just in case feel free to pass along. It's that time of year again. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1687902982.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1687902982.jpg |
I have yelled at more than one stupid human walking their dog on asphalt on triple digit days. One fat bastage could not get his little dog to step off the white strip in the lot. I told him to either pick up the dog or take off his shoes, had him touch the ground, just like that, light bulb goes on.
I am on my summer schedule, hence am up before it gets light, generally |
I’ll play too.

Hi guys,
I volunteer for a dog rescue and have fostered two paralyzed dogs in the past for them. I got an email last week that a dog was being returned to the rescue because the adopter had gotten in a bad accident and now couldn’t handle the physical aspects of dealing with a paralyzed dog. I agreed to foster Moose. Picked him up Sunday and he was bigger than the lady had thought- she said 60lbs, I think 70 is more likely, but haven’t got him on the scale yet. Being paralyzed means that he is incontinent and needs to have his bladder expressed and wear belly bands/diapers etc. well, I got him outside and all the diapers removed, but he growled at me when trying to express him. He had poo dried up all over his fur and he did let me wash and cut all of that mess off. I was also able to pour warm water on his boy zone to clean it. Back in the house, he would not let me put a diaper back on him- aggressive growling. I was freaking out a bit because as a puppy he had literally chewed on his junk, so I know I needed to get it covered up. Luckily while he was eating, I was able to get a belly band on him. He slept the whole night and counting my blessings, isn’t bothered by fireworks. This morning he let me express him, wipe off his zone and put his belly band on with no complaints. I am so relived. We will try and take him for a walk in his wheels later this morning. Rutager http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1688390337.jpg |
Rutager - you are a saint, my brother.
Really takes a special sorta person to do what you are doing. God bless, my friend......and belly rubs to Moose......he really hit the mother load having you as his human for now! |
I'm in awe of your compassion, Rutager.
What's the future look like for Moose? Do you foster him until someone adopts him, or for the rest of his life? |

Now, the ONLY reason I am posting yet another pic of the Big Orange One is because she apparently thinks she can summon the varmints by starring at the warren entrance. She'll get it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1688408448.jpg Thank you again, Mr. West. My Mom ran the Aiken County SPCA for years and I visited once. It takes special people to do what you guys do. Best. |

Ideally you foster until you get him adopted. In reality, you go into it expecting that you may have him for the rest of his life. My first paralyzed dog I had for a couple years and he got cancer of the gut and blood and had to be put down; he was a dick, but also the coolest dog I have met! The second dog I also had for about two years and he got adopted- surprisingly. I did just dog sit for the young couple last month; they really love him. I don’t have high hopes that this one will get adopted anytime soon. Thanks, Rutager |

I figure this is my special skill to prove I’m not a prick- well, at least not all of the time! On the plus side, you meet a lot of women |

Rutager, Matt,
If the virtue of men is brought out by dogs, your recent deeds are perfect examples. Long lives and good times for both you and your companions. Through it all, it is worth it, you guys prove my point. Dan |
I cannot express my gratitude for what you do for these dogs Rutager. You have just what these dogs need the most...a big heart ! God bless you, and love them up for me too !

First evening the four of us on the new deck. Construction is essentially done. I need to string the stainless cabling, do a little sanding and sealing. The pups seem to approve. They’ve wondered why they couldn’t go through the slider for the last three weeks, lol.

Got a collar just like that for my pup from Gun Dog Supply and everyone asks where I got it.

Meet Benjamin..............Ben Jamin!
One year old rescue pit, only $175 chipped, shots, balls cut off. Had him 3 or 4 days now, got him for my 60th Bday present to myself after putting down my 15 year old dog 2 weeks ago..........the tail wags on. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1689969804.jpg |
I got her collar from a local pet and feed store. I liked the simple Latigo stitched leather and the natural color seemed right for her. It’s made by Circle T.SmileWavy
She’s my constant companion. The wife brought her home while I was working in the field. Came home for XMas, we bonded instantly and that was that. Irritates my wife to no end because she had her for several months before I came home and I had no idea, was a total surprise to me. |
Dogs know.
My ex-wife has a dog she takes with her everywhere. Dog tries to leave with us every single time, or stay if she leaves first |

^^^ Nice!
I take Dottie out for at least an hour every day. The trails around the farm and other properties adjacent to mine are great. End of the track is the western end of the farm and she always goes for a dip. Yesterday was as calm as the Potomac gets: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691856391.jpg Then a grass-ex: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691856391.jpg Egret not amused: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691856391.jpg |
Rusty, congrats on the new pup !!
I would sure love to see a picture of him ! Today marks 2 months since my beloved Tilly passed away. I still am very sad , but it is my new normal. Lilly and Boomer are doing great ! At 12 months and 9 months...the training is constant. My wife started Lilly on agility training. Lilly loves it and is very good. Yesterday I took her, she is very smart and a pleasure to learn with. The instructor was very impressed with how well she behaves under my command. She made me look good. To her it is effortless, she will do anything for a treat. She is not afraid of any of the equipment, if I command, she does. She is pretty awesome and a joy. We do enjoy a nap together. She likes to be close. Boomer is a great big brother to her and he is my constant companion, much like Tilly was. It is not the same, but it works for both of us. Both pups hang out , in visual range when I am working outside or on my classic out in the barn. They will even step into the car and lie down on the back seat while I putter on the car. All in all, I miss the heck out of Tilly, but these two make me very, very happy. Good dogs ! |

Awesome!

Thanks Steve.
I will have a guitar you will love to show you when it is completed in a few months.... |
Congrats, Jeff - Boxers are a very fun breed!
Man, your turf looks really good! :) |
I've heard Boxers never grow up. My old groomer used to have one and one time he thought she was in danger and he was chained up to a cleat in the wall of the kitchen. He ripped the cleat out of the wall and went right through a glass door to protect her.

I've had this 1 year old Am Staff terrier for a month now........what a bundle of energy but a total lover.
