FWIW, when I first brought Billabong home in 2006 from the kill shelter and what I have come to believe was a very rough start in life, her personality was one of a puppy who never learned to play - or trust humans - or trust other dogs - or even know how to sit. It took a few years for her to learn how to both trust and to learn how to play and enjoy herself. The process took quite a while but along the way for me it was heart warming to see little glimpses of her progress here and there. I'll never forget seeing her sit on the floor for the first time. It was quite a moment for us. So - may you and Sir Henry continue down that same path with the same results. SmileWavy Winkipop unfortunately had a bad reaction to an ivermectin med I gave her last Saturday and she spent a few days with no appetite and very lethargic. The good news is she finally turned around yesterday and is practically back to normal. I had given her liquid nourishment with a syringe through the side of her mouth. Staying up a few nights worrying. She had never had that happen before and Billabong had the same med and was just fine. New one on me but she'll be getting a blood work and full chemistry profile when my vet gets back to town in a week just to make sure she'll be OK. Scared the crap out of me. Her appetite is back and better than ever and her mobility about 90% back to normal so happy to report that. Whew! Here's the 2 little beggars loitering at the kitchen door checking out the food prospects...lol.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1499469667.JPG Also, at a friend of mine's today doing some landscape lighting and they have 2 mini 'Sir Henry's'...check it out...Roxie and Lola.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1499469785.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1499469785.JPG :D |

Another crazy dog story: my daughter and her boyfriend were driving along a busy road near dark the other night when a very small dog ran in front of them. They jammed on the brakes and just missed it. But the dog decided to just stay in the road. They stopped, got out of the car, and tried to get the dog to come to them. It wouldn't. Just then ... THUMP-THUMP. The dog gets run over by a car  Now it's laying in the road motionless and my daughter is in tears.
They run over to check on it and the dog gets up and runs to the sidewalk. They eventually get the dog into the car and can see the tire marks on the dog. There's no collar or ID. They take it to the 24-hour animal hospital and have it checked and X-rayed and there is nothing at all wrong with it :eek: The vet also could see the tire marks. And they saw it get hit and heard the dreaded double thump. So now they're trying to decide whether to keep it or not and meanwhile are compiling a list of possible names: Michelin, Speedbump, Snowtire, Retread, Pothole and my daughter's favorite - Ren (from Ren & Stimpy fame). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500315301.jpg |
Amazing story Curt....wooo boy....so happy the little one escaped harm....a miracle if there ever was one!
Boy or girl? lot of possible names that will all be good.....how about Hankook - the South Korean tire company. Han (like Han Solo) Kook (as in Kooky). Anyway.....please give the little one a kiss and hug from all of us and thanks for being such good humans! |
I like speed bump for that dog....but it didn't slow down the tool that hit him.

It's a boy about 3 years old. I talked to my daughter today and the dog is 100% This is 4 days after the accident. Open to more name suggestions :)

How about Ocho? As in, he's clearly part cat and only has 8 lives left.

New addition. Office manager found this guy when she was walking her dog. Her idiot niece wanted the dog, and got him with the stipulation that if she could not keep him, do NOT take him to the shelter where she volunteers. She of course took him to the shelter when mom says no pretty much immediately. We picked him up Saturday, never even heard of this breed prior to that. Gets along great with the other rescue dog too.
