9 years old doesn't seem very old....the years fly by so fast......especially when considering one's mortality.....or more so your best bud's......

Priority for any pet owner is companion's comfort.....keep them from pain. Sometimes it's a tough call how to navigate through these health issues - but eventually you figure out what to do.

As you did, Craig.

Will be keeping Tank in our thoughts and prayers.

Wife: "There's 12 jars of peanut putter in the pantry! ??? Why did you buy so much peanut butter?"
Me: "I went to Costco Baby. A case was really cheap. You know how I love peanut butter"

30 minutes later...

Me: "Hey Tank, she's gone! Here ya go. Keep it between us ok"

My best friend has a few months to live and he LOVES peanut butter. I'm sure as helll not worried about his weight or cholesterol.

Awwwwwww.............love that, Craig. You're a good man.

If he loves burgers.....a Big Mac every week would also be a way to make his time here enjoyable...

Sorry to hear about Tank Craig. Went through that a few years ago with my lab Scout. She was 13 so we just did all we could to keep her comfortable until the time came.

I'll have to keep that in mind next time I get annoyed by this little goof ball jumping on me when I'm trying to work on the car. Pretty hard to not love them when they just want to be with you.

Great pic, what type his he/she? Their coloring looks like our rescue schnauzer but with floppy ears.

Post some more if you have them.

Putting down my 14.5 year old Choc Lab was the worst thing I had to do in my life. She was my running partner (I have no run since) and my best buddy. I still miss her sorely to this day. They say time will ease the pain, I wish it were true, I loved that dog more than most humans.

My wife and I promised each other no more dogs for a while, so we waited about 3 years, then decided to try to go with a rescue. After 2 failed fostering attempts the 3rd time was a charm.

This is Lucy, she was adopted by us on December 23rd 2016 she was about 11 months old and is what is called a Pot Cake Mutt.

A tired dog is a good dog, we put a little backpack on her when we go for our morning 3 mile walks, she gets to carry he drinking water and bowl.

She makes me laugh a lot, she sleeps pretty weird sometimes.

I still miss my Lab, this sweetheart takes some of the edge off.

^^^ Hey Jim...thanks for posting....great pics of your new baby! Looks like a win-win for both parties!

Sorry for your the loss of your girl. :( I think we can all relate about the sad empty feeling and hole in your heart when your best buddy gets their wings.

I'd like to think she is smiling down on you now and glad you have decided to adopt again and give another innocent a forever home. Good on ya!

My guess would be maybe a Lhasa Apso or Havanense, or mix. I have the same problem with a smililar dog, Bodhi. He's a Shih Tzu.
