What breed? It was fun watching my pup the day after bringing her home at 49 days....nose to the ground everywhere she went exploring her new world...."I smell stuff" :)

berettafan 01-07-2020 09:56 AM

He's a Braque Francais.

I sure thought he was a GSP!

Pyrenean or Gascony?

berettafan 01-07-2020 10:36 AM

Pyrenean. Looks just like a GSP really. Total lap dog in the house with the exception of his once or twice daily spaz sessions.

Remember losing a dog at six. It was brutal.

Lost a dog when I was 45. It was worse.

Just never gets easier.

Best advice I was given is that she won’t mind if you get a new dog.

My wife has been sick for a few days, strep throat. Our brown staffie hovers over her when she is sick, he is like that with kids conistently. I guess the don't call critters like that nanny dogs by mistake.

We had to put our GSP down yesterday. Had him 12 of his 14 years. We’ve had lots and lots of animals in our lives BUT this was by far the BEST dog that wrapped us early on. He had a great life. RIP Beau

So sorry for your loss. I'm sure he did have a great life and I thank you for that. You will meet again one day.....

After your dog passes, do you get the same breed or move on to another? I never could figure out how to go about it. I fear that I would possibly keep trying to compare the dog to my previous one, even though they all have different quirks and personalities.

I'm sorry to hear about Beau's passing :( He's watching over you and the family from doggie heaven now though!

A customer named "Nathan" came in last night and wanted to know if I wanted to adopt a dog that came wandering in to his shop. It was malnourished, but grateful to have found a place to stay. I told him that I have two rescue dogs already, so I can't adopt a dog at this time. I made this poster and taped it to the front door of the business:

I hope a kind person adopts him.

....

Everyone is different....you'll figure it out. I had so much going on in my life that I could not (did not want to) get another pup when I put my beloved 14 yr old yellow Lab down. After I was ready, I almost opted for a blue heeler (didn't pan out), then thought I was getting a great GSD pup when suddenly that fell through a year ago. I went on a mission....I wanted a pup NOW....I love Labs, but a Golden would have been fantastic too. Found an awesome local breeder with a Chocolate available.... :).

You will know...

After Cowboy I’m committed to blue heelers. But you’re over thinking it. 90% of dogs are the perfect dog and will fit themselves into your life. A year in and all your doubts will have been forgotten.

I will not get another damn puppy. Those things are infuriating.

Archer turns one in a couple weeks. He’s finally to the point where I don’t want to strangle him at least once a day.
