The view I see most:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364299538.jpg

Being a Chow their instinct is to guard. So when we are couch-surfing, he is at the door waiting for any nonsense that may happen.

I once told him that I'm going to take a picture of his face, print it out, then glue it to his @ss so I know what he looks like! He was non-plused

Hi Steve,

With the Blue Heelers - they are born almost all white except for their markings and then darken up with age.

Little Marcos should become darker as he ages.

That said there are some variations in coat colour, no matter what the age is.

Here's little Billabong back in '06 - look how 'bright' she is - we figured at that time she was about 1.5 y/o.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1364917118.jpg

These photos were taken the day after she was sprung from a kill shelter in Louisiana. She was at a friend in Baton Rouge who pulled her and gave her a nice bath until we could arrange transport.

Anyway.....here she is 6 years later....and a little darker......

Baz, cool thanks. I think that's what the lady that picked him up said too...He'd get a little darker. I think Vinman's dogs started dark as puppies.

Lex started dark but he's cheating being mixed with a Lab.

You mean Vinny's started out "lighter" don't you, Steve?

FWIW, I like the lighter coat colour......very distinctive and the spots show up better.

Yeah - Lex's coat colour is influenced by those Black Lab genes!

Maybe they are darker than this now, but they are darker than Marcos as he is now.

After 14 years had to put Jeep down. It was sad at the end so I had to bite the bullet and do it. But not to worry, I am now the proud owner of Max, AKA "Mr Willy".

Hey Larry - so sorry for your loss......very sad but he lived a long and happy life and that's all you can ask for.

You did what you had to - the ultimate act of love for your companion.

"Mr. Willy" is one cool dude....congrats for saving another furkid's life! :p

944Larry 04-02-2013 07:12 PM

Thanks Baz, have had to put down 4 dogs in the past year. We had a lot of wander-ups around the house at about the same time so they're all leaving about the same time. Down to one Blue Heeler (and she went blind) and of course Mr Willy. Probably won't ever have over 2 again. It's gotten so expensive to own a dog anymore it's not funny.

NICE!

My Mom's neighbor's Golden is named "Gracie".

When I arrived home after a one week vacation in Nico - my 2 girls BOTH peed on the floor they were so happy to see me. Now that's love!

Hey folks....good friend (Melissa) in South Carolina has encountered some hefty vet bills with her "Jake", whom I have posted here before (remember the agility video?)

First Jake had surgery on his knee (luxated patilla) and now Jake is having eye issues.

Melissa has set up a facebook page with stuff for sale in order to help raise funds for the bills. If you can take a look and see if there's anything you might be interested in - I would appreciate it.

Feel free to also cross post and spread the word.

This lady and her group (Carolina ACD Rescue & Rebound) have saved a lot of dogs over the years - they work out of their houses and do not take any pay for what they do.

I have purchased from Melissa and she's top notch to deal with.

Thanks for any support. Here's the webpage....just click on any photo and read the comments below for purchase info...

This is my newest addition, Alma (the older dog is us Ursula) both are Deutsch Drahthaars. We picked her up in northern Germany in the 930 and drove thru the Netherlands, Belgium and back home to Bamberg.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1366641285.jpg

Laneco 04-22-2013 10:13 AM

Taking them home in the 930 is really the only proper way to bring a German dog home, isn't it? :D

My wife and I have had Goldens for years. The best one is one we have now that I got from my son due to Marine Corps movement. We had to keep this dog in the family. This pic says it all! Wags his tail 24/7,loves everyone and never leaves my side. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1366682994.jpg

Rikao4 04-25-2013 10:30 AM

what are those ..
certainly not G-Shepherds..tall cats maybe..
little nip here & a pull there..
amusing for sure..

Rika

Baz 04-25-2013 03:46 PM

Awesome video, Vinny!

Rika - I believe those could be Belgian Malinois:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vsW8QoSISe...n-malinois.jpg

That little pink pants prick is lucky I wasn't there - he'd be history right now. As it is.....he reaped some pain (not enough in my opinion) from those he foolishly attacked.

VINMAN 04-25-2013 05:42 PM

Pretty sure those are regular GSDs .

Rikao4 04-25-2013 06:15 PM

GSD I think
They are reacting...
Not trained...
In on. Fass mode ..
a trained dog doesnt release...
Until you quit moving or called..
Hilarious none the less...

Rika

I agree...thanks Vinny.

So Rika....is "Sam" short for "Samson"? I ask because a good friend of mine's Yellow Lab was named "Samson" - and called "Sam" for short.

That's a GREAT photo, BTW! ;)
