Planko crumbs salt & pepper and add some hot oil!

Looks like Tank got the better end of the deal. Dog 1, Snake 0. Glad Tank is okay.

Thank you. He's feeling pretty good today. Only some mild swelling left in his neck and some red bite marks where the hair fell out. He certainly won the ultimate battle, but the snake got in a blow good for a point with the judges!

The vaccine is WELL worth the money. The vet said his symptoms we very mild for the severity of the bite.

I usually don't care much for little dogs but my youngest daughter got this little critter recently. Cute as a bugs ear. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1349663460.jpg

The snake that bit Tank wouldn't have bitten this dog...It would have eaten him!

This is so true

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without alcohol,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

...Then You Are Probably .........

Vinny, I feel your hurt. Its real and you never forget.

We just lost our Snappie girl 12 days ago. We had to euthanize her due to cancer. We told her that we wanted her to reincarnate herself into a puppy that spoke to us...
The day we were at the vet saying goodbye to our best companion, another dog was undergoing an amputation (rear leg) and died on the table. (over a minute flat lined) Same time! Same day! We got a wild hair to go to the Humane Society Sunday to have a look around. We wanted a Pity or Pit mix. (like our Snappie girl) We met the most wonderful girl while we were there. She is "that" amputee that died on the table. The surgen that performed the amputation said it is the first puppy they were able to bring back from the dead.
Long story short... We have a new addition to our family! Her name is Olive. She already has a HUGE place in my heart!

Olive looks great - congrats!

widgeon13 10-17-2012 02:31 AM

Olive is a cutie! What a pleasant distraction from more painful times.

I'm sure Snap would approve.

Baz 10-17-2012 05:10 AM

Congrats Dan.....Olive is a real sweetie! Look at those eyes....wow.....there's a LOT of love in that girl!!!

Nice testament to your Snappie....saving the life of another girl...you're a good man.

Thanks for sharing and hope to see more of Olive! :)

syncroid 10-17-2012 06:16 AM

:D :D :D Thanks guys. I also think Snap would approve.

syncroid 10-17-2012 09:56 PM

We have been in communication with the Humane Society where we adopted Olive. The gal that took her under her wing from the get-go sent us some photos of her that I would like to share. These are photos before we adopted her. She is such a sweet girl! My heart is full! I am smitten!

We are not sure what exactly happened to her. The vet and us think she was kicked by someone. Her femur was broken in 8 places. The vet felt she would do best with the leg removed since there was so much damage. It doesn't seem to slow her down much. We are thankful to have her. :D

Unbelievable!!! If I ever saw someone kicking a dog...their leg would be broken in 8 places!:mad::mad:

Agree 100% with Baz.
How did your little girl escape the "cone of shame?"

Jrboulder 10-18-2012 10:29 AM

You might be a golf-centric family if you get your dog on Masters Sunday and decide you're going to name your dog after the winner. It's a good thing Chris DiMarco didn't win. Phil Mickelson won the 2004 Masters and thus we got Mickie...

Syncroid (Dan), your story is so heartwarming and you have a lucky new addition to your family. :)

We had a 65 pound Greyhound/Shepherd mix (our LUCY) who we adopted from the Broward Co. Humane Society shelter where my wife volunteered back in '92. She was a gawky 5 month old mutt that no one wanted, but that my wife loved to spend time with. Her boss told her one day that Lucy was scheduled to be put down (for lack of space at the shelter) the next day, so that sealed it - she became a Romanos family member. She was such an awesome dog. At age 9, over the Christmas holidays, she was diagnosed with Canine Osteosarcoma - an almost always fatal bone cancer. We had her right-front leg amputated, and a few days later she came home. The recovery was tough for her, but she made it. By sheer dumb luck, the amputation seemed to stop the spread of her cancer, and we were lucky enough to have her for another six years, hobbling around on three legs as if she were born that way. She finally passed at the ripe old age of 15 - one of the toughest days of my life.

I'm not quite sure. :) She still had her staples in the first day we visited her. (last Sunday) They were out when my wife and daughter picked her up on Monday.

Thanks Scott! It sounds and looks like you gave Lucy a great life. Pound puppys are the best in my opinion. :)

I try not to think too much about how Olive received her injuries. It pisses me off too much to dwell on. People that do that to animals should be put down themselves.

Thank you! All of our dogs are pound dogs. :D

I agree with your second statement! Awful examples of the human race!
