So our Great Pyrenees, Pete, went for a check up today. All is good but we were curious about his weight. According to all sources, they are typically 95-150 pounds! He is considerably smaller than that and weighed in at 69 pounds. We think he's about 1-1/2 years old so maybe there's some time for a bit more growth (we hope not!). My theory is that his weight/size was stunted by his ordeal of being in the wild for so long and becoming emaciated.

He lives the life now ....

We have a feral Great Pyrenees on he property that weighs in around 85 lbs. She is 75% Pyrenees and 23% Maremma sheep dog (also a large white herding dog) so I guess there is a floating scale as to the weight.
Pyrenees are pretty resourceful when it comes to surviving on their own.

So today was puppy selection day. We were second on the list and were disappointed that the black puppy we had our eye on was taken by the folks ahead of us BUT look at this little cutie! We've named her Izzy. She is the runt of the litter at 4.5lbs today.
