She is settling in well. Vet appt. today to get my vet to take a look at something on her neck and her infected ear. I have medicine for the ear from her prior owner. She is very good about nosing around to figure out her space although I've had to be careful with drop offs like the basement stairs and window wells outside. Potty breaks have been easy so far, we've just been on a bit of a schedule like you would do with a pup. She can do stairs fine, good on the leash. I'm finishing the fencing off of the back yard which is huge. She'll have the run of that once the gates are in. My cats are fascinated with her and keep rubbing on her. Of course she looks like my old labs which the cats grew up with. Zombie Hooch!

Thanks for all the posts, Jerry - what a sweet lady you have...and for the blind info, Bugs.
Here's an update on Bailey: So sweet Bailey not only has glaucoma, and zero vision, she also is HW-positive. Poor girl can't catch a break. We can't do surgery on her eyes until after the HW treatment. She'll be getting her blood panel done tomorrow so we'll have a better idea of how serious the infestation is...out this way HW treatment costs about $1,000...Bailey just became a $2,000 dog! She does have medication for her eyes; so no pain there, but we can't do the surgery to remove them until the HW has been treated. I'll keep you updated as I know more. Cheers!

Actually proves the point... To a dog the first job is to get to the island. Then hunt for food and survive for as long as possible.
Did he even hope he would get rescued? Of course not. She was just being a dog. I think people in similar situations allow themselves to die because they have no hope.
