That thing is gonna wallow around on the track like a barnyard pig until you get it set up right. I might be able to help with that.

Of course I'm going to need about a half day in it to see what it needs.

On a more serious note, you will probably need a set of shocks, springs and bars for each track. And they have to be spot on. That's the side of racing that I never enjoyed.

I could live pretty well on just the tire budget.

This particular car was owned and driven by Russ Romer who always ran up front. He is 69 and started at 12, and has driven everything from go carts, speed boats, Can am cars, Porsches act.
The car came off the track 2 years ago and went into storage, 4 hour engine. The west coast tracks I plan on running are Portland, Sears Point, Laguna, CA speed and Coronado. He never changes springs, or bars, shocks maybe. most adj are wedge, tire pressure, camber caster and toe and weight. We have the scales and set up sheets.
We do everything in house. I have spare jericos, rear gears too. so the plan is to put in the willow set up and do multiple test sessions till I learn the car and do the big bore bash at willow in November

Yes it is and for some reason 'ol Ron was really bending your ear. That was the 1st HSR West event at the CA Speedway according to my notes and the "medium bore" class and had about 50 cars in it. The pits filled up and the line ran out into the parking/pit area for that group. Ron had put a 2.8L six in the 914 and if I remember correctly Geary Smith blew by him so he went out and had Mark Kinninger built up a real RSR mechanical injected six for nearly 100K! It shook the car apart so they took it out. I was humming along with the Porsche 2L challenge group for that time frame.

Hey, MM, I was jokin' ya. Maybe I should have put more of it in green.

Still, I've driven the Petty school car and I know what huge difference it is to switch from a 911 to a stock car. Myself, I'd probably spend my first 2 sessions pussy footin' until I found when the tire temps come up and where the beginning of the performance window is.

I doubt I'd ever see the edge, more likely the dirt. I hate cleaning the dirt out of a car after an "excursion."

Just how "vintage" is that thing? Looks pretty modern to me, but then I don't follow stock car racing, so what do I know.
