Update: I received my new RAM sticks yesterday and installed them last night. WHOA...what a difference! My PC hasn't ever been this fast.

Here's what they looked like before and after install:

Everything works faster now - I should have done this a long time ago!

This eBay seller shipped very quickly too, FWIW.

Thanks again for all your help!

Did you go bigger? You can never have too much money or too much ram (unless you're using NUMA architecture, in which case more RAM slows down your bus speed)

Yes I went from 2Gb to 4Gb (but with my system am probably only at 3.5GB) but it made a nice improvement!

You'll need to re-install with a 64-bit version to get to the rest of the memory.

I run into issues like this on an almost weekly basis at work. I manage an environment with about 300 server blades, with 18 DIMM's (148Gb) in each one. The fun is trying to find and replace the right DIMM without screwing anything else up. I also have a DL980 with 128 8Gb DIMMs - that's 1Tb of RAM.

I just installed Windows 7 (32bit) on 2 Dell Inspiron e1505 laptops with 2GB of RAM and they both run great! Very quick response and every driver was installed correctly and no issues at all... Get Windows 7 for your PC...
