Apple sues Samsung
Seriously? Apple is claiming Samsung "stole" the smart phone and the tablet?
Does anyone think they will get anywhere with this? On a side note I was looking at a new Samsung Galaxy III... and the salesman says "they are made in the same factory as the iPhone". Not that I would trust the kid in the cell phone shop any further than I could throw him... but it made me think... I bet both ARE made in China. |
Welcome to the Patent Wars (sounds like another retarded reality show)
Apple has enough cash to injunctify everyone else and keep them tied up in court until the end of days. Will this be the new post-Jobs strategy? |
I think Palm should sue both of them...
|
I was thinking the same thing... Jobs would have never bothered with this BS.
Perhaps this is the beginning of the end for Apple... they are practically admitting Samsung has an equal product. I don't know who has the biggest pile of money out of the two.... but I imagine Samsung has pretty deep pockets too. And what of LG and HTC (to name a few)? |
Maybe IBM and also Microsoft should say "I'm suing the lot of you." Just for fun.
|
Samsung makes everything man. Ships, fiber optic cable, Phones, telephone switches, cameras, microwaves, TV's... They both have a crap ton of cash. Let them beat each-other up for a while.
And yes, I believe this is the beginning of the end for Apple. not as in the end of them but the end of the high horse they are currently riding. It all started with Final Cut Pro X |
Apple’s products came first, then Samsung’s....

Yes, but Palm had Smarphones, along with HTC way before Apple. And Palm had a sort of early Tablet, the Lifedrive. Of course Apple had the Newton...

Can find examples farther back I'm sure as well, but this hits the tablet form factor pretty close to dead on. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1343686412.jpg One of the coolest things it had going was a screen texture that made if feel like writing on paper with the digitizer pen. |
I cannot think of one electronic device marketed to the consumers that is made in the USA. It's all about the bottom dollar.
|
This is a make-work project for their respective legal teams and/or a marketing exercise for both parties.

Scott,
I jumped from the Berry to the Samsung Skyrocket and love it... Give it a try! |
I have a newton that still works, was it the first tablet :D

Apple is suing Samsung for the touch screen technology rights, not on who 'invented' the tablet computer or smart phone. (we all know that had to be Al Gore!)
Samsung is counter suing on a number of the firm's data transmission patents. At least that's the current set of lawsuits going on in Australia. There are many other suits in many other countries between these two companies. Clicky here for more details... -Z-man. |
These lawsuits are not new. There were going on under Steve Jobs too.
Apple has had some success in its prior lawsuits vs Samsung, winning injunctions against various models of Galaxy handset. At one point, Apple was one of Samsung's largest customers. Samsung made Apple's processor and sold NAND flash to Apple. Apple has moved its processor to a different fab and has been shifting NAND purchases too. As the largest buyer of NAND in the world by far, Apple is a big customer for Samsung to lose. |
It's called the patent apocalypse. See Coding Horror: The Coming Software Patent Apocalypse
Related is the use of copyleft open source. GPL is the devil and the industry is moving away from all GPL code. Apple is rapidly moving away from GPL code. So is Google and everyone else and their brother... |
Who made the first handheld? Newton? Palm?
