Another CCW to the rescue!
Unfortunately stuff like things does not make headlines.
Citizen with CCW helps police engage active shooter at 165 yards with a .357 magnum. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4g1n8cmwhIY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nLp6HdwOg7s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Good old boy. Job well done!
I love a story with a happy ending. |
You have a link, Vinny?
edit: Sorry, Tapatalk didn't provide access to the videos. :( Randy |
pistol at 165 yds? Darn good shot! Good on him!
|
|
5 hits @ 165 yards with a .357 magnum?!?
|
If he had a bigger round he wouldn't have needed those extra 4 hits.
Seriously though, he is above the average skill of a CCW holder. When I read what Vinman wrote I thought it was OJU, but then I heard the guy speak and I could understand him. |
The party is pretty much over - so what is this guy doing?

ANOTHER RED NECKED "GUN NUT!"..........................GOD BLESS 'EM!
you can tell that good 'ol boy peudner kawboy grew up with spoons. no doubt in my mind a .357 with a 6" barrel can shoot 165yds quite well. probably aiming at chest and with bullet drop he nailed bad guy POS in thigh! RIGHT ON! my marlin 1894 CSS lever is an all day 200yd spoon with .357 JHP's. its a hoot cheap azz plinker all damn day with .38's. i kind of consider it my "redneck peudner kawboy" ASSAULT RIFLE! hahahahaha one of the funnest spoons all around aside from a freeking .22. |
All that because two dogs were pooing.
|
This is another gun worshipping thread and needs to be moved to PARF so I can respond.

no he just grew up with spoons lak meeself, and its obvious he can shoot the broad side of a barn let alone a jackass in the ass(thigh) from quite a distance. hell i'd shoot at deer all day long at 200yds with 6" barrel pistole or my marlin 1894CSS .357 and not EVEN THINK TWICE! 9mm and .45= bad peoples .357/.44=deer/elk/mtn lion/bears/jav-a-leaners or bad peoples. real world justified shooting. and the best part was saving the cops azz. this guy deserves the key to the city, all the beer he can drink, all the chicken fried chicken he can eat, and a dance with betty lou thelma lou liz NICE AND SLOW LAK! i'll even bet the farm, this here good 'ol boy does crazy dangerous stuff lak drop his tailgate on his pick 'em up, grab a nice cold "pearl" beer, drink it nice and slow lak on a hot summer afternoon, pull his pistole out, and DANCE THAT CAN ACROSS HIGH HELL AND BACK jes for sheets and grins. |
All of that because one moron can't control his own dogs and presumably does not pick up his dog's crap.
At leaset no cops were killed, and a citizen was a good shot. |

I have a S&W 6" .357 and it is accurate enough to hit a target that sizea at that distance, but the gun being able to shoot that far accurately and the person being able to do the same are two different things. Just sayin... |
I'm not sure that this was a CCW "to the rescue" or the good old boy got to shoot someone free and clear because the cops were shooting at him at the same time. Kind of like if (when) LAPD is beating someone's ass and you sneak up and kick the guy in the head while they're distracted.

It doesn't really mention if it was CCW or if he just pulled it out of his home. It sounds like he is a resident there from how I read it, not that my reading comprehension is stellar.

ya know i keep saying it over and over here and its obvious it does not sink in to some.
there are those of us who have grown up with spoons, in rural areas. and then there are OTHERS, who havent a clue until late in life. those of US(the rurales), always have a spoon around or (5) or more. kind of like a snap on tool box that goes bang when needed. i got my 1st spoon when i was 6 years old. and took to shooting like a TICK TO A HOUND! so thats 49 freeking years of shooting sheet. if ya aint good after 49 years of doing it alot.................well then maybe shuffleboard or croquet might be yer cup of tea. practice does make perfect and thats a FACT! even if just using a pellet pistol 2-3-4 times a week, keeps the skills honed. mee-self? i always make it a challenge. anytime anyplace when i can. i love long range anything. fastest way to learn a round. and if ya DONT LEARN A ROUND.........well yer useless when it comes to being accurate. there are inherently accurate rounds. incredible BC's(ballistic coefficients) and then there are rounds that you have to spend time with to master. try shooting a 45/70/405 "rainbow tracjectory " round and master that????? since i got my marlin 1895GS, and had nelson ford(thegunsmith.com) butter it up-action job, add a silicone mag spring, bear proof extractor, WWG big loop lever, thats ALL i think about shooting day in day out. why? because i have become bored with modern day long range anythings. i grew up with levers and have gone full circle back to them. and its A CHALLENGE! challenge yerself and YOU WILL GIT GOOD! that damn 45/70 is one HELL OF A SPOON and the freeking round is 135 years old. and if for a second you POO-POO the round..............just ask about a BILL-YON BUFFALO and INDIANS how inaccurate it is! crap i can hit anything i please at a 1000yds iron sighted all day long with modern big bore caliber rifles. we have done it for a hell of along time. its nothing more than a weekend afternoon bet "I'll betcha cant hit that tree limb or squirrel" or whatever and then learn yer round ballistics. it helps with a laser range finder. do it over and over and over..............you will git good, trust me. enter iron sight matches.......and its just like riding a bicycle. ya never forget how. we have watched the .22 match guys hit ohio blue tip match heads off at 100yds. now thats a challenge. no different than us nailing the hell out of lil praire dawggie heads at various ranges when their poking their lil heads out of a hole with .308's or .338's! now thats a HOOT! and damn good PRE-HUNT PRACTICE! this GOOD 'OL BOY has been shooting a damn long time and he earns my respect in spades. |

Hey someone has to guard the donuts |
That round at 165yds , has to be like a ft- ft 1/2 holdover right?
|
a 158 gr JHP at 100yds would be at +.01". as i said a very accurate ballistically coefficient round.
add barrel length and it gets even better. a 16" marlin 1894CSS is a all day 200yd deer/yote/java-leaner/bob kitty/mtn lion/ round gun once ya learn the round. with a 6" barrel or less, yes you will have to "drop it in" and have some holdover. but reality is if ya cant SNEAK up on any of the critters mentioned to WITHIN 200yds...........ya probably ought to take up knitting or stop wearing old spice while hunting. |
Good to see.
Cannot believe the idiots in the media asking in the video "did he have to have a CCW to have a weapon in his trailer!"... |

Of course, we all know none of this really happened, because regular citizens can't be trusted with guns--they don't know how to shoot and will just end up killing innocent bystanders. |
the suspect allegedly became aggressive and shot the two dogs and then shot the husband and wife owners of the dogs and returned to his RV.
Killed 2 dogs --- and then their mom and dad? Good riddance - I don't care how he was eliminated from the gene pool - less debris to clog up the planet and suck up oxygen. |

Feel free to respond here - it's a free country with free speech! Or you could start your own thread on PARF - if that makes you feel more comfortable. But to your comment about gun-worshipers.....my take on the story (and thread) is that thanks to our current gun laws and the country's long-standing history of the concept of self-protection - the bad guy was taken out and a good guy was not. A second aspect of the story is the amazing marksmanship of this citizen. Oh yeah...and here's a big one.....one could also discuss why it is (as Vinny mentions in his opening post) this story is not front page news as a followup to the Aurora shooting. Yes I know the body count isn't the same (so it's not as 'sexy" for the media) but it does have a connection to that tragedy in that in one situation the bad guy was not erased and in this one he was....thanks in part to the current gun laws. Interesting discussion but again - not very sexy. Hope to hear from you with your take on my comments and/or other perspective. SmileWavy |

Jeez, a upstanding citizen takes on a nut trying to kill everyone in sight and this "tree hugger" wants to start discussion's on guns again. Wait until its a member of his family who is in danger and ask how he feels then. Remember, when seconds count, the police are usually 10 minutes away. |

That guy is one hell of a shot. To make that many hits with a pistol at that range is a lot more than luck. Seems like a nice guy as well.
Remarkable. |

Do we not know if it's a 6"? That's a pretty long barrel to be CCWing if it is...
|
The article that Vinny posted just mentions that the resident "retrieved his gun". Sounds like he lived there as well, grabbed a gun from his trailer.
