Born NYC. Grew up New Yawk, New Joisey, Paris and Strasbourg France, Vancouver Canada, Seattle, Los Angeles. Work ethic came from my family and the culture they brought from the "old country", Shanghai area of China. Lost everything in World War 2 and the Communist takeover of China. Started over in a new country, 1940s Taiwan. Then started over again in a new country, 1950s America. Had to learn the language and the culture, different color skin, educational and professional credentials not recognized. For my grandparents and their kids, there was no choice but to work hard and smart, and their upbringing also didn't offer them any other way.

Parent's hometown is in western Nebraska, caught it from them, you do the math, but it plays out to being midwest. I suppose I got some from my own experience.

I am lazy, if there is an easier way to do something I will. For example, I dig the tapered, cannulated compression screws for small bone work. Pulls it together tight enough to squeeze the juice right out of the bone. I used to use a lot of pins, put I can throw one of those screws quickly, no need to tap, better compression than a regular cannulated set. By cannulated, I mean a set of screws where you drive a pin where you want the screw, then all your instrumentation slides over the pin. They might be a little more pricey than the old school stuff, but it is a better way to do it in pretty much every respect.

I have also discovered that it is easier to work hard and do a good job than to slack off and screw around.

Tobra,

Its easier to work hard once, do the job right the first time and never have to worry with doing it over again!

There aint much out in Western Nebraska... I used to travel out to North Platte and been to Scottsbluff and Valentine a few times. As my Father used to say: "Not much out there and an awful lot of it!"
